‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden Talks Victor Newman’s Epic Downfall — Previews What’s To Come Heading Into May Sweeps?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) may finally pay for all his crimes over the years. Previously, when Victor Newman would face criminal charges, his family would be there to vouch for him, and ensure he doesn’t serve any hard time. This time, however, his family are the ones that pressed charges against the tycoon — so it looks like after almost 40 years on the show, he may finally pay for all the evil shenanigans he’s pulled over the years. Eric Braeden sat down with TV Insider and gave insight to where the storyline will go next, and if Victor will pay for his many crimes.

The Young and the Restless spoilers hinted that Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni) would be the one to turn Victor in to the police. However, the one who provided the evidence to prosecute him was his own daughter, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Without the physical evidence she provided, Genoa City Police would not have been able to charge Victor with any of the heinous crimes. The fact is, Victoria will likely regret turning her father over to the police, and may eventually testify for her old man. At the moment, she feels completely blindsided with the ugly things she just learned her father did to people in her life that she values.

“Victor doesn’t see it that way. His response would probably be, ‘Hell, no, she enjoyed it!’ But, yes, it was a horrible thing to do, and this will test Victor as never before.”

TV Insider spoke with Eric Braeden about Victor’s downfall, and asked for his personal insight to how he views Victor’s current mindset. Braeden revealed that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor ‘s marriage is over–and most likely for good. He stated that Victor sees it as a complete betrayal that Nikki spoke out against him and sought out others to join her crusade to get him out of his position.

“Victor should dismiss Nikki. It’s over. Done! Are you kidding me? She is persona non grata. I would never tolerate a wife who spoke out against me, and neither should he. The same with his children. He should disown them. Bingo! Bye! This is where the writers and I have had disagreements. They have their agenda. But I remember Victor’s history. When I see a script where Victor starts to soften with someone who has done him wrong, I say, “Bulls**t! I won’t act this!’ “

Eric Braeden stated that Victor doesn’t think he has done anything wrong. In his eyes, he had reason to do everything he did. Deep down, Victor’s motives were for his family. However, he did do some things for purely selfish reasons. For example, when he brought Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman), it was for the sole purpose to steal Jabot from the Abbotts. Victor didn’t mean or even consider that Phyllis would think the façade was a rape — he just thought he was giving Phyllis a better, and more improved, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

Braeden says that Summer Newman (Hunter King) will be the only one to stand by Victor’s side throughout the trial. Deep down, Summer knows that his reasoning wasn’t all evil, and he was thinking of the Newman family when he did these terrible things. It looks like Summer may testify for her grandfather, and help him beat the charges against him. Eric stated that the real catastrophe for Victor is not the court case, it is what could happen after he faces his criminal charges.

Serial Scoop teased that Victor Newman could face serious opposition as he tries to rebuild his life after his criminal case is thrown out (assuming that is what will happen). Apparently, there a rumor that Victor might not live through the ordeal. The Young and the Restless fans are well aware that he will survive the incident because Eric Braeden has no plans of retiring anytime soon.

It looks like May sweeps will focus on the “Who shot Victor” storyline. At this point, the whole town is after him, including Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell). If he beats the charges, it could push her over the edge, and making her one of the many suspects that could have turned to violence to teach Victor Newman a lesson.
