Garth Brooks World Tour Hits Des Moines For First Time In Two Decades

Des Moines country fans can rejoice. Garth Brooks is set to perform there this spring for the first time in almost two decades.

Brooks World Tour announced that he is headed back to the heartland in April. Garth will take the stage at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines on April 30, 2016. The last time the country crooner played in Iowa was back in 1994 when he performed in Iowa City and Des Moines.

Fans that are looking to get tickets to what will no doubt be an amazing show can purchase them beginning March 11 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Iowa Events Center website. At this time tickets will not be sold at the box office, only online. Starting price for the tickets is $74.98 and there is an eight-ticket-per-person limit. Considering how long it has been since Garth Brooks performed in Des Moines and that Garth is a country icon, tickets are likely to go quickly. Plus, this will be Brooks’ one and only stop in Iowa on his World Tour.

Although at this time Garth Brooks is scheduled for just the one concert in Des Moines, there might be a slight chance that more dates could be added. Recently, Brooks added more tour dates to his stop in Columbus, Ohio, due to high demand for tickets. Garth ended up adding a total of five additional shows in Columbus. What makes this point so interesting is that just like with Des Moines, Brooks had not been to Columbus in almost two decades as well. That certainly doesn’t mean he will add more shows, but if the ticket demand is there, it just might happen. So don’t give up if you don’t get tickets the first time around.

Garth Brooks World Tour was officially announced back in 2014. It was the first tour that the “Friends In Low Places” singer had been on in over 13 years. The tour kicked off in Chicago on September 4, 2014. Brooks posted this message to fans to announce the first city and date.

“I am overjoyed with the announcement of Chicago and the opening of the World Tour…between Chicago and Dublin, it’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions.

“We are starting with the tour page, each city will have its own announcement. The music, the store, Garth 101, and more…it’s all coming. We will grow together. Here we go!

“Gratitude, respect, and love, g”

Although Garth announced that he was coming out of retirement in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, he did not release all the tour dates at once. Brooks decided to release the tour dates stop by stop, and currently, dates have been announced through July. However, there is a big gap between the Des Moines show at the end of April and the next performance in Las Vegas on June 24. It could mean that more dates will soon be revealed or that he will take some time away from the road.

During his GMA appearance, Garth also shared that his wife, Trisha Yearwood, would be joining him on the tour, which is expected to last almost three years. The addition of Yearwood to the tour has helped contribute to the massive success of the World Tour ticket sales, not that Brooks needed any help in making his tour a success. Fans are definitely getting two country legends in one amazing show with Garth and Trisha.

If you missed Garth Brooks when he was touring back in the day, you now have the chance to see him in action, so don’t miss it.
