Tina Fey Calls Jennifer Garner A ‘Lovely Lady’ After ‘Vanity Fair’ Mention

Tina Fey is currently promoting her new film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and during the press tour for the comedy, she was asked about Jennifer Garner’s Vanity Fair tell-all. So what does Tina Fey have to do with Jennifer Garner and her tell-all interview?

As it turns out, Garner mentioned Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as a source of comfort when she can’t sleep. The Alias actress admitted that although this wasn’t a problem in the past, over the last year, she’s had some trouble falling asleep. Garner goes on to name Tina and Amy as people she turns to during difficult times.

In the interview, Garner said, “When I can’t sleep — and I am not someone who typically has that problem, but I really have in the last year — and I need something to switch my brain off, it has been Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. God bless those girls.”

Fey’s response was mutual gushing to ET about Garner.

“She’s a lovely, lovely lady. I saw her at the Oscars [but] I just got to say ‘hi.'”

As it turns out, Jennifer Garner has spent some time with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler during the awards circuit. Fey and Poehler hosted the Golden Globes three times, and during their first time hosting, Garner was on the arm of her now-estranged husband Ben Affleck. When Fey was asked what she’ll miss about hosting the Golden Globes, now that she’s been a year away from taking on the duties, Fey mentioned Garner again.

“I remember dancing really hard with her at our first Golden Globes after party.”

That said, even though Fey only got to say hello to Jennifer Garner at the recent Oscar ceremony, it sounds like she enjoyed plenty from the event. The comedian and writer got candid about the ceremony with Howard Stern on his Sirius show. Fey praised host Chris Rock’s skills by making the uncomfortable nature of #OscarsSoWhite and turning it into comedy.

“I thought his monologue was fantastic. That’s the tricky thing about shows like that – you don’t get a dress rehearsal. You don’t get that opportunity.”

That said, she did find the Oscars to be too preachy, calling the Academy Awards out on their BS.

“Halfway through [the ceremony] I was like, this is some real Hollywood bull—t. Guys, pick a lane. You’re all rich, why are you yelling at me about corporate greed?”

Leonardo DiCaprio highlighted his own cause by speaking about climate change after he won his first Oscar for his performance in The Revenant, but Fey didn’t take issue with that.

“I always am psyched when someone is articulate because let’s face it, actors are very stupid.”

If you remember, Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler took a shot at Leo during a Golden Globes ceremony for dating a bevy of models. The joked was in good nature, and DiCaprio seemed to get a chuckle out of it.

Fey brought up his model dating ways later in her chat with Howard Stern, stating, “It doesn’t affect the green footprint, no matter how many women you f–k.”
