Jennifer Garner’s Foul-Mouthed Recital Of ‘Go The F— To Sleep’ Will Leave You In Stitches

American actress and mother-of-three Jennifer Garner recently read a children’s book that showcases the actual frustration that parents go through whenever they try to put their kids to sleep.

The award-winning actress read the fully-illustrated book, Go the F**k to Sleep for Vanity Fair, and it definitely sent a strong message not only to her fans, but to every stubborn child who refuses to sleep.

In the video made especially for the book reading, Garner, 43, relaxes in a lounge chair by the pool. Using her sweet voice, the actress reads some lines from the book.

“The cats nestle close to their kittens, the lambs have lain down with their sheep,” she begins. “You’re cozy and warm in your bed my dear, now go the f**k to sleep,” she continues, showing the slightest hint of a smile on her face.

The Draft Day actress continues reading more pages, each one more emotional and emphatic than the next.

Before the video ended, Jennifer Garner read a few more lines from the book.

“The cubs and lions are snoring, wrapped in a big snuggly heap,” she goes. “How come you can do all this other great s**t, but you can’t lie the f**k down and sleep?”

Garner, who is the Vanity Fair cover star for March, may not look like it but she has already given birth to three children herself: Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Sam, 4, which means she clearly understands the troubles that parents go through in putting their energetic young ones to sleep.

Jennifer Garner is not the only Hollywood celebrity who has read the book Go the F**k to Sleep. Since the book was written in 2011 by Adam Mansbach, other actors like Morgan Freeman and Samuel L. Jackson have shared their voice talents in reciting the book.

Samuel L. Jackson Also Read from the Same Book

American actor and director LeVar Burton also departed from his G-rated TV show Reading Rainbow and read the expletive-filled book just in time for the upcoming launch of his first book, entitled The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm.

A group of adult literature enthusiasts sat around Burton as he emphatically read lines from the bedtime book.

In an interview, Mansbach said that he spent about an hour writing the entire original manuscript of the book, which focused on the frustration that parents feel whenever their children refuse to go to sleep.

Adam Mansbach Talks About His Best-Selling Book

Mansbach and his publisher did not expect the book to make it big, selling 1.2 million copies worldwide. Considering the book’s retail price of $14.95 and $15.95, they have already earned more than $18.7 million.

Meanwhile, Amazon, who sells the book slightly cheaper at $9.16 and $11.94, still sold about $11.6 million worth of books. The author said that when he was trying to have the book published, a number of big publishers offered him “seven-figure offers.”

However, Mansbach stuck with a publisher that allowed him to maintain control of his own earnings.

The book, which was illustrated by Ricardo Cortes and published by Akashic Books, has become very popular among parents and young adults alike. People have also suggested that it should be adapted into a film.

According to a Bloomberg report, Fox 2000 is moving forward in transferring the 32-page book into a full-feature film.

The studio has successfully picked up the rights to the book in 2011 and has tapped couple Ken Marino and Erica Oyama to put the comedy children’s book on the big screen. The film is expected to be a comedy.

A sequel to the book is called You Have to F**king Eat.
