Jennifer Lawrence On How She Got Her Sexy Body, Health And Fitness Tips

How is it that Jennifer Lawrence, lover of high-calorie foods such as the spaghetti-chili- pizza sandwich, manages to look so perfect in all of those designer gowns she graces the red carpet in? Her secret weapon is her personal trainer, fitness guru, Dalton Wong.

Dalton and Jennifer have teamed up in the past when Wong was assisting Lawrence to get fit for her role in X-Men back in 2010. The star has continued to follow Wong’s advice and training tips to this day, as she shared in the foreword message for Wong’s fitness book.

“We spent 10-12 hours a day together for three months working out between filming on [the X-Men] set. He changed my body for that movie and gave me the skills to change my life. I could never live on a ‘diet.’ Dalton taught me how to eat, move and live a delicious but healthy life.”

Jen shared that since the experience when working with Wong on set, the two have remained good friends and continue to inspire one another. People relays Jen’s words.

“We remain good friends; when I’m in London I love to train in his gym, then afterwards we go out for burgers and fries with his family. It’s all about balance.”

Wong additionally expressed how Lawrence was an inspiration to him during the time he first was able to work with the Joy star and notes how she has remained a client who he has a great rapport with. His ties with Lawrence inspire him in his training of others.

“I met Jen when she was 20, and although I had been doing this for a long time, she helped me figure out how to make a 20-year-old look amazing, but still do 20-year-old things. I would say, ‘okay, Jen, this is what we have to do. You have to exercise, you have to eat well, but you can go out on a Friday night, and yes, you can have a candy bar.'”

The health guru taught Jen how to eat the perfect balance of foods, mainly the balance of fats, carbs and proteins. He admits he was lenient and allowed for some tasty options in order to still arrive at the proper balance Jen needed to get in her best shape,

“I was always liberal about her diet [when filming] but it was portion controlled.”

The “liberal” diet was to ensure that Lawrence had the appropriate fuel to do her best work on set. Wong also noted that every spare moment for exercise was used.

“In between scenes we would squeeze in 15 minutes of exercise – things we could do on the fly like squats and lunges. By taking 15 minutes to do something for your body that makes you feel good. You don’t just get an instant lift, you build a lasting change.”

There’s something to be learned from tips shared by Wong. Fifteen minutes here and there of workout routines is something anyone looking to improve form can fit into their day. Wong has also worked with talents like Amanda Seyfried and Kit Harrington, ensuring both stars stay in great form for various roles. Wong is clearly also part of the reason that Jen stuns in the latest Dior ad campaigns, as the Daily Mail shares.

One guilty pleasure for many is indulging in a few cocktails and various alcoholic beverages. Wong suggests champagne as the best option because it comes in smaller portions, seeing as the drink is typically served in a small flute, and it is known to cut through fatty foods, therefore helping speed up digestion. Wong, however reminds that alcohol contains unwanted calories as well, so it’s either dessert or drinks.

“I tell my clients, you have to drink your carbs or eat them, so if you like wine you can’t have dessert.”

Wong’s book, The Feel Good Plan, is out March 8 and is filled with tips that have helped Lawrence, along with many others, make the best decisions diet-wise, and keep fit.
