Daisy Ridley Reveals Opening Scene Of ‘Star Wars 8’

Daisy Ridley continued her rather excellent start to 2016 over the weekend by presenting an award at the 88th Academy Awards. While on the red carpet at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress was quizzed about the follow-up to the mega blockbuster, and she seemingly revealed the opening scene to the film.

Daisy Ridley spoke to MTV just ahead of the ceremony that was hosted by Chris Rock on Sunday night, where she was asked how things are going on the set of Star Wars 8. And, as you’d expect, the English actress tried to be rather coy about what she’s been filming, but made sure to reveal that it has so far been an amazing experience.

“Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” Daisy Ridley remarked. “When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”

But what else could Daisy Ridley reveal about Star Wars 8? Well, not alot. But she made sure to insist that it has a sensational story, while she also provided a quick review of Luke Skywalker’s plot in the film.

“It’s such a good story,” Daisy Ridley continued. “Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”

Daisy Ridley’s comments basically confirm that Star Wars 8 will continue immediately where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off, which is something that we’ve all long assumed considering the end to the seventh instalment of the franchise.

Warning: there are SPOILERS regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead, so if you haven’t watched the hugely successful space opera, then you probably shouldn’t read ahead.

Are they gone? Good. So, the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw Daisy Ridley’s Rey having briefly used her powers as a Jedi and then been sent out to find Luke Skywalker, who was now living in isolation. The final scene of Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw Rey stood opposite Luke Skywalker on an island on a distant planet, extending and presenting the lightsaber that she’d found at Maz Kanata’s castle to Skywalker.

What we’d previously learned throughout Star Wars: The Force Awakens is that Luke Skywalker, who was one of the last remaining Jedi, went into hiding following Ben Solo’s descent to the Dark Side, which led to him becoming Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.

Daisy Ridley will have a lot to catch Luke Skywalker up with at the start of Star Wars 8, because during the course of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford’s Han Solo was murdered by his own son and Luke Skywalker’s former protégé Ben Solo.

Last week, Daisy Ridley also provided details regarding shooting her one brief scene with Mark Hamill in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, admitting that she was sick during the filming of the sequence. This kind of hampered her time filming opposite the acting legend, who had previously portrayed Luke Skywalker in the first three Star Wars film.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Ridley explained, “I’ll be honest with you, I was very sick one of the days we filmed. Mark was trying to do his serious acting, and I was like, retching in the cooler. I’m not kidding it was so awful.”

Star Wars 8 is currently in production, and it will finally be released on December 15, 2017.
