Kylie Minogue: Can She Fight The $300 Million Kardashian Clan?

Kylie Minogue is not happy that Kylie Jenner, the reality TV star from Keeping Up with the Kardashians (KUWTK), has applied to trademark her first name in the U.S. However, Kylie Minogue has expressed reservations about it, saying she had been performing under the name “Kylie” before the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was even born, Billboard has reported.

Minogue’s manager has argued that if the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved the application, it would cause plenty of confusion and may even dilute singer’s brand.

Minogue took to Twitter to criticize the KUWTK star.

“Hello… My name is KYLIE #lightyears,” she wrote, lifting a lyric from her 2000 song “Light Years.”

Minogue is a huge star in her own right who has sold over 65 million albums. Minogue has also won several awards, including Brit Awards, Grammys, and, in 2007, she even became the first woman ever (and the first foreigner) to receive Britain’s prestigious Music Industry Trusts’ Award. She was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2011. Minogue has owned the domain name kylie.com since August 21, 1996. This was a year before Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was born, the Mirror reported.

Minogue has opposed the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s trademark application, saying she was “a secondary reality television personality who appeared on the television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians as a supporting character.”

Also, Minogue’s application pointed out the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s racist remarks. Jenner reportedly bought her mixed race friend a cake with an inscription “Happy Birthday N****.”

“Ms. Jenner is active on social media where her photographic exhibitionism and controversial posts have drawn criticism from, e.g., the Disability Rights and African-American communities,” Minogue’s management agency has said, referring to a wheelchair fashion shoot she did.

Life & Style magazine said that the Kardashian clan is worth over $300 million. Do you think Kylie Minogue can fight the clan that is considered one of the most popular in the world?

Whose net worth is more when it comes to sheer cash? Celebrity Net Worth says Minogue is worth $90 million. Minogue, 47, has had her single “Loco-Motion” spend seven weeks at number one in Australia. She became the highest-selling singer of the decade.

However, Hollywood Take reported that she was worth $5 million, which is a lot considering she is a sidekick in the hit reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Jenner recently came up with her cosmetic line, and HerLip Kits sold out. The sources have said that Kylie makes a lot of money through Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She was making $5,000 per episode and $3,000 per tweet.

She has time and again expressed her desire to be a business woman, and it seems like she has been successful in doing so. However, do you think the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star would be successful enough?

“If I could do whatever I wanted, I would have a successful makeup line, and I would want to hopefully start more businesses, and just be, like, a businesswoman,” she said in an interview.

It does look like Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is pretty determined to succeed.

She says she does not really want to work after 30 and that she just wants to have a family and raise her own chickens.

“And then, hopefully, I’ll go off the map. When I’m, like, 30, I want to go off the map, have a family, and live in Malibu with a farm, and just raise my own chickens…. My goal for 2016 is to learn how to garden.”

It does look like she has it all figured out.

Do you think Kylie Minogue is right in objecting to Jenner’s trademark request for the name? Do you think she will be able to fight the case against the Kardashian clan?
