UFC 196: Ronda Rousey Wants Holly Holm To Defeat Miesha Tate–Former Champ Wants The Chance To Beat Holm

Former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) have been enemies since they battled each other in 2012 for the World title. Their feud with each other only took new heights when they were paired against each other on TUF (The Ultimate Fighter). Here we are at a crossroad as Miesha Tate battles Holly Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) for the title in UFC 196–the winner will fight Ronda Rousey.

Ronda Rousey has not been shy about who she’d like to fight. MMA Mania reported that Rousey wants Holly Holm to win the fight on Saturday, which would give her the opportunity to a rematch Holm and avenge her loss from November 2015. With the bad blood between Ronda and Miesha, the matchup might be entertaining to watch as the two battle it out, knowing the fighter has bad blood between them.

MMA Mania stated that Ronda wanted Holly to win the fight because she said she wants to be the one to dethrone Holm.

“I need her to win. I want to be the one to beat her. I don’t want anyone else to take the honor of beating her besides myself,” Rousey said.

Ronda has been busy making sure that dream of holding the Bantamweight title is a reality by hitting the gym hard and training with her trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan. Her coach was said to be unqualified to instruct a UFC fighter to win after her loss to Holly at UFC 193. Even so, Ronda trusts Edmond and vowed to continue to work with him.

Holly took a risk by agreeing to fight Miesha instead of waiting for Ronda to be ready for a rematch. Holm explained that she would not chase money and a big paycheck by stepping into the ring. Instead, “The Preacher’s Daughter” wanted to get into the ring as soon as possible, and that allowed a match up with Tate. Of course, Miesha couldn’t be more pleased as she had waited for what seemed like years for the chance to fight for the title.

MMA Junkie noted that Holm stated that she had ‘zero concerns’ about not being the main event at UFC 196. Holly confirmed that her friends were surprised that she was sharing the spotlight with Conor McGregor in the action packed fight lineup on Saturday, March 5. Holm stated that she just wanted to do her job, and get a knockout as soon as possible against the contender Miesha Tate.

Holly was aware that Rousey wanted a rematch to get her career back on track; however, Holm expressed no interest in helping Ronda reclaim her MMA career. Of course, it benefits Holm more to keep Ronda at bay so she can stay on the top of the women’s UFC weight class as long as possible.

Dana White, President of UFC, stated that Rousey Vs. Holm II will happen and will be the biggest pay per view event in UFC history. When Ronda is cleared and ready to fight, it seems like Holm may not have any other choice but to step in the octagon and prove to the fans that she isn’t a one-hit wonder, and she has what it takes to knock Rousey out for the second time.

It all comes down UFC 196; the winner will step into the ring and battle Ronda Rousey. UFC fans desperately want to see Ronda Rousey to face Holly Holm in the octagon once again to prove which one of the well-rounded fighters is deserving of the bantamweight title.
