Girl Scout Cookies A Big Hit At 2016 Oscars, Did Chris Rock’s Treats Win Over Ellen DeGeneres’ Pizza Delivery?

Gordon Ramsay may hate Girl Scout cookies, but it seems that the rest of the celebrity world loves them. The Academy Awards is considered the biggest night in Hollywood, where award after award is handed out, but they were not the only things handed out on Sunday night. Host Chris Rock brought out his own daughters at the 2016 Oscars, who were part of a Girl Scout troop selling those yummy boxes of goodness to some of the most famous faces in the world.

At the 2014 Academy Awards, it was Ellen DeGeneres who handed out huge slices of pizza via the pizza delivery boy, who kind of became famous for a moment. This year, it was Chris Rock, who not only provided tasty treats to those ravenous celebrities, but he also raised over $65,000 for his daughters’ Girl Scout troop, as reported by USA Today.

Most parents take those famous boxes of cookies to work, trying to get rid of them on behalf of their kids, and that is just what Chris Rock did. He was working and grabbed the opportunity to make his plea to his fellow co-workers. He attempted to use guilt to get the celebs to buy.

“I’ve been away from my two daughters at a very important time in their life. I have missed most of Girl Scout cookie season. Last night Zahra, my youngest called me up and said, ‘Daddy how come we never sell the most cookies? How come Mrs. Dunn wins every year?'”

The 51-year-old host also tried shaming the A-listers who were all dressed in their tuxes, glittery gowns, and jewels. He told them to part with their millions on behalf of a good cause.

“I want you to reach into your millionaire pockets, and I want you to buy some of my daughters’ Girl Scout cookies. Leo! You made 30 million, come on.”

It seemed to work as they most certainly did dig deep into their pockets. It was almost like an auction with everyone in the audience holding up their bundles of money just to grab a box or two.

John Legend looked more than eager to grab a box from one of the girls. Maybe his pregnant wife, Chrissy Teigen, had a strong craving for sweets. Kate Winslet was quite amazed that she had her cookies, as she looked like she was examining it before she dug in. Kate’s former co-star and now Oscar winner Leo DiCaprio couldn’t wait to open his sleeve of Girl Scout cookies.

Actor Christian Bale got caught stuffing a few thin mints into his mouth. Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman also didn’t seem to care if the world watched while they stuffed a few cookies in their mouths as the show was ending. Even Vice President Joe Biden got in on the action, as he was seen slipping a $20 to Chris Rock backstage.

This is the second time this week that those Girl Scout cookies have been in the news. On Wednesday, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and had his very first taste of the sweet concoctions. However, his reaction was quite different than the rest of the world. Ramsay told Kimmel that they looked kind of like dog biscuits. He absolutely hated thin mints, as he had to spit it out in front of everyone, as noted by People.

It seems that Chris Rock has now made Oscar history. Between some of his controversial comments during his hosting duties and now becoming “dad of the year” by raising that much money for his girls’ troop, it looks like he had a fun and eventful night. This also brings Girl Scouts back into the spotlight. Of course, this time of the year with those yummy cookies being sold doesn’t hurt anything either.

Girl Scout cookies are so well known across America that most people go hunting the young girls down just to purchase a few boxes. Oscar night was a perfect opportunity to share the wealth among a very wealthy crowd.
