Two Teens Returning From Disneyland And UPS Driver Killed When A ‘Street Racer’ Plowed Into Truck

Two teens returning from a fun-filled day at Disneyland and a UPS driver are dead in a horror car crash that allegedly began when a street racer plowed into the UPS truck and caused it to hit the teen’s car. One of the street racers has been arrested while the second racer reportedly fled the scene as the fatal crash unfolded on 5 Freeway in Commerce, California.

The Daily Mail reports that two teens and a UPS driver are dead following a fatal car race. Two cars were allegedly part of a street car race when one of the cars plowed into a UPS truck driven by 52-year-old Scott Treadway. The UPS driver lost control of the large truck after the street racer hit him and he subsequently crashed into a car carrying two teens and two young adults returning from a trip to Disneyland. After smashing into the car with the four passengers, the UPS truck landed on a Ford Explorer and burst into flames.

The California Highway Patrol has disclosed that three people died in the accident, including the UPS driver Scott Treadway and two teens in the vehicle returning from Disneyland, 18-year-old Brian Lewandowski and 19-year-old Michelle Littlefield. Four others were also listed in critical condition from injuries sustained in the car crash that officers say was the result of a street car race on the 5 Freeway.

According to NBC San Diego, the two cars in the street race were traveling at speeds upwards of 90 MPH when the wreck occurred. One street car driver stopped at the scene following the fatal accident while the second driver fled the scene. The report indicates that Michelle and Brian were seated in the backseat of a Nissan when a Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger were racing down the freeway. The Challenger tried to pass a slower moving vehicle when the driver lost control and hit the UPS truck driven by Treadway. The UPS driver then lost control of his truck and struck the median at a high rate of speed, the truck then went airborne and landed on the Nissan that was carrying Michelle and Brian home from Disneyland. After hitting the Nissan, the UPS truck continued to fly through the air and eventually landed on a Ford Explorer and burst into flames. The driver and two teens were pronounced dead from the horror crash.

Four other people from the other vehicles were taken to the hospital with critical injuries and the driver of the Challenger, 35-year-old Dealio Lockhart, was arrested and taken into custody on charges of vehicular manslaughter. Though Michelle’s father William Littlefield says he is mourning the loss of his daughter, he says he holds no ill-will towards the street racers and that his daughter would be disappointed that she died but would not want her family to put ill will on anyone.

“I’m sorry this happened to both of us. We would never want any of this. Michelle would be disappointed she was killed. But she would never hold any ill will.”

Brian Lewandowski’s father was identified as the son of a Los Angeles Homicide detective who says his son was “an incredible young man and every parent’s dream son.” Both Brian and Michelle worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain with the company noting that the Magic Mountain family is mourning their tragic loss.

“The Six Flags Magic Mountain family was saddened to learn about two of their team members who were tragically killed in the I-5 freeway incident in Commerce, CA on February 27. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.”
