Sofia Vergara Wants Kids With Husband Joe Manganiello But ‘Cannot Expect Anything Natural’

Sofia Vergara married her husband Joey Manganiello three months ago, and is already talking about the possibility of having kids together.

While Sofia said she is open to the possibility of having more children, she admits that she “cannot expect anything natural anymore” at 43-years-old.

“I cannot just expect anything natural anymore,” the Modern Family star told Harper’s Bazaar for their March issue. “We’ll see what happens. It’s not something that doesn’t let us sleep. But it’s not something I am completely opposed to.”

Vergara, who already has one child Manolo Gonzalez-Ripoll Vergara, 23, from her first marriage to her high school sweetheart, said if she and Manganiello are going to have children, they need to do it now rather than later.

“I think the energy levels you have when you’re in your 20s cannot be compared to the energy you have at 40,” she said. “So of course it’s going to be different, but it’s possible.”

Sofia was a young single mom for a long time, and said it made her appreciate just how well her son behaved while she worked.

“I was a single mom for a long time and he always supported and helped me, made it easy to be able to work,” she said. “I never had to worry about him. When you have a problem all the time, you are unable to be creative and think. As a single mother, I was able to do everything I wanted to do.”

Last May, Vergara spoke about having children with her then-fiance. She said Manganiello didn’t have any kids of his own, so of course they had talked about possibly having children together. However, she added that having kids wasn’t a current priority in their lives.

“When you’re with somebody that hasn’t had kids, and you want to start a relationship, of course there’s always that question,” she said at the time, according to Us Weekly. “And if it happens, it will be something that will make us very happy, but it’s not a priority in our lives.”

While Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are still in the honeymoon stage of their marriage, Vergara is continuing to battle a lawsuit against her ex Nick Loeb over the future of the pair’s embryos they froze while they were together in case they ever decided to have children. Sofia, apparently, wants the embryos destroyed, while Loeb is requesting custody of them so he can have them implanted in a surrogate.

“When we create embryos for the purpose of life, should we not define them as life, rather than as property? Does one person’s desire to avoid biological parenthood (free of any legal obligations) outweigh another’s religious beliefs in the sanctity of life and desire to be a parent?” Nick wrote in a 2015 op-ed titled “Our Frozen Embryos Have a Right to Live,” according to Wonderwall.

Loeb and Vergara started dating in 2010 and got engaged in July 2012. However, they later called off their engagement in May 2014. Since then, they have been in a custody battle over what should happen to the frozen embryos.

“I asked her to let me have the embryos, offering to pay for all expenses to carry our girls to term and raise them. If she did not wish to share custody, I would take on full parenting responsibilities and agree to have her declared an egg donor. She has refused,” Loeb wrote.
