Blizzard Announces The Premiere Of The World Of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria Cinematic

Blizzard, the company behind online gaming’s perennial favorite MMORPG, World Of Warcraft, has revealed the premiere date of the cinematic trailer for the World Of Warcraft’s upcoming Mists Of Pandaria Expansion. The announcement was made Sunday, July, 20, 2012 on Blizzard’s BattleNet Blog. The highly anticipated cinematic will debut at Gamescom 2012, on Thursday, August 16, 2012. It will be shown on giant screens in both English and German at 14:00 PM at the Blizzard booth.

Gamescom 2012 will take place in Cologne, Germany, beginning on August 15, 2012. It is the world’s largest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment. The first Gamescom in 2009 attracted over 245,000 visitors and 458 exhibitors from 31 countries and it drew even larger audiences in 2010 AND 2011. Blizzard specifically chose Gamescon 2012 to premiere the Mists Of Pandaria cinematic because of the huge audience and international flavor of the event.

Blizzard is pulling out all the stops for the premiere. According to Blizzard, “This much-anticipated unveiling will be accompanied by a performance from MANAO – Drums of China – the all-female Chinese drumming group that opened and closed the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. A signing session with Blizzard developers will immediately follow the premiere.”

Blizzard has received a great deal of praise over the years for their highly innovative and visually stunning video trailers for World off Warcraft and their other games including Starcraft and Diablo. Players and fans of the Blizzard games look forward to each new trailer and they are a major attraction at Blizzcon and all the gaming conventions that Blizzard attends.

The release date for The Mists of Pandaria expansion has not been officially revealed but it is expected to be in the late fall of 2012. The expansion will include a substantial amount of new content for the World Of Warcraft as well as a new playable race of Panda like creatures and a vast new region for gamers to explore. Blizzard expects the Mists of Pandaria to reinvigorate WOW, which is about to begin its 8th year of existence. Although WOW still has over 10 million subscribers world wide, the Mists Of Pandaria will introduce a completely new ambiance to the game by adding a playable race and environemnt unlike any that have appeared before in the World Of Warcraft Universe.

If you are lucky enough to be in attendance at Gamescom 2012, you will be treated to another visual masterpiece from the folks at Blizzard. The rest of us will just have to wait until the cinematic is made available on BattleNet and YouTube. In the meantime, here is an earlier Mists Of Pandaria trailer for you to enjoy.
