Mel Gibson’s step-mother Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson wants the actor to pay for her divorce from his father, Hutton Gibson. Hicks Gibson filed motions in the Los Angeles County Superior Court requesting the judge to make Mel Gibson a “party in her divorce proceedings” between his soon-to-be- ex-step-mom and his father Hutton Gibson. The pair filed for divorce in June, TMZ reports.
Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson,78, claims in the divorce motion that Mel Gibson “not only pushed his father to divorce” but barred her from the home she shared with Hutton Gibson. Mel Gibson has reportedly been paying all of his father’s medical bills, the Huffington Post notes.
Due to Mel Gibson’s alleged involvement with Teddy and Hutton’s relationship, his step-mom maintains he should be made to pay her legal costs as well. According to TMZ, Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson maintains she has already shelled out $30,000 in divorce legal fees and estimates she will ay approximately $65,000 more before the marriage is formally terminated.
The motion filed by Teddy Gibson in the Los Angeles court also asks the judge to order her step-son to allow her back inside the home. Teddy Gibson already filed a restraining order request to prevent Mel Gibson from booting her from her home.
The actor’s step-mother claimed in her multiple motions that Mel Gibson “spit in her face” and “sabotaged” her marriage to Hutton Gibson. Teddy also claims Mel “exploded on her” several times and she fears for her safety. The couple married in 2001.
Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson is also asking for $15,000 per month in alimony from Hutton Gibson, a bill which the actor would likely be helping cover as well. A hearing has been scheduled to rule on Teddy Gibson’s request.
