Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Talks High-Speed Diaper Changes, AI And VR

Mark Zuckerberg was in Berlin on Thursday to receive the Axel Springer award and answered many interesting questions during his visit about diaper changes, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and more.

Many new fathers should probably aspire to be just like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg when it comes to sharing the responsibility of diaper changes. Reportedly, after Zuckerberg became a parent for the first time back in November 2015, he made it his mission to do things better. In fact, he actually timed himself and got the process down to a mere 20 seconds.

Speaking to an audience in Berlin on Thursday, while receiving an award from German publisher, Axel Springer, Mark Zuckerberg, 31, explained that he is a competitive guy.

“I am competitive guy, I time myself to get and better, and I got down to 20 seconds.”

As reported by the International Business Times, Zuck even gave away his “secret” to a high speed diaper change by saying, “The trick is to slide the new diaper under the old one.”

A proud new father, Zuckerberg regularly takes to his own official Facebook account to post photos of his wife, Priscilla Chan and their new baby daughter, Maxima.

Back in December 2015, Mark Zuckerberg even posted an ultra cute cute image of himself changing little Maxima’s diaper, with a caption reading: “One more down, thousands to go.”

A follower replied to Zuckerberg’s cute post, saying, “I’m geeky but I actually did calculate the rough number of diapers; I thought thousands might have been hyperbolic, but it’s not — that’s the right order of magnitude. Hope it’s going well Mark!”

Zuckerberg also joked about his casual work clothing, as he is seen for the most part wearing a mono-colored t-shirt, jeans and sneakers in the office. A while back he posted an image of his closet, showing a row of gray t-shirts and hoodies saying, “First day back after paternity leave. What should I wear?”

In the interview at the Axel Springer award ceremony, he did, however, confirm that he does own some colored t-shirts too, but that he only wears them at the weekend (of course, he is wearing a colored one in the diaper changing image above).

On a more technical note, while in Berlin and during his interview with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, Mark Zuckerberg also announced the Facebook AI Research Partnership Program.

As reported by I4U News, the new program is aimed at supporting artificial intelligence research at universities, using state of the art computing hardware and software, along with expertise provided by the social media platform. Zuckerberg explained in a Facebook post that AI is one of the technologies he is most excited about.

“Building machines that can learn the way humans do will let us create new tools to dramatically enhance humanity’s potential. AI will save lives by diagnosing diseases, making cars safer, and unlocking new insights about our planet and universe.”

Mark Zuckerberg also spoke about his vision for the future using VR (virtual reality).

Zuckerberg hosted a live chat while in Berlin and when asked why he invested in VR, he said, “Our mission is to give anyone the power to express anything they’re thinking about or want to experience.”

In a video on Business Insider, the Facebook CEO then went on to explain that progress in technology has allowed people to communicate in richer media formats. First it was text, in the last five years it was photos and with the increase in network speed, nowadays people share information via videos.

Zuckerberg said that in future, he believes we will be able to capture and share entire settings, which can then be seen using “either a headset or a different sort of device.”
