Katy Perry Is Actually JonBenet Ramsey? New Conspiracy Theory Takes Off

The Internet is never lacking in laughable conspiracy theories. The most popular ones lately have included the alleged assassination of U.S. Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia and the idea that presidential candidate Ted Cruz was actually the Zodiac killer. But, the latest hypothesis is perhaps even more far-fetched, because it’s claiming that pop star Katy Perry is actually JonBenet Ramsey, the pageant girl who was violently murdered in 1996.

According to the Kernel, the theory has been around since December 2014 when a YouTube video appeared suggesting that JonBenet Ramsey was not actually killed, but rather kidnapped. And then something vague and inexplicable happened and she became Katy Perry. As you can see, there’s not a whole lot of evidence compiled to this particular conspiracy theory, but you can watch the video below.

The video was created by a confident user named Dave Johnson who insists that the world is full of liars working to cover up the fact that JonBenet Ramsey “did not die,” and instead made a “sacrifice” to become pop sensation Katy Perry.

“JonBenét Ramsey did not die, nobody died, nobody got hurt. That sacrifice was in name only, and that sacrifice was to get something, and that something was to become a star.”

While this specific video did not exactly go viral, the idea that JonBenet Ramsey became Katy Perry triggered a significant number of searches on the Internet and sparked other users to perpetuate the theory.

Among the few arguments presented by theorists is the simple fact that JonBenet Ramsey looks like a much younger Katy Perry. Side-by-side photos do show compelling similarities, but the comparisons don’t go much further than that.

Those who subscribe to the theory also claim the death of JonBenet Ramsey was staged by her parents as part of an elaborate scheme to turn her into a star. And, speaking of her parents, the original video creator also claims the parents of JonBenet Ramsey and the parents of Katy Perry look alike, suggesting that they may be the same people who simply altered their appearance over time.

However, the Huffington Post points out that there are records of the birth date of Katy Perry, which is 1984. This means that Katy Perry would have already been 12-years-old at the time JonBenet Ramsey died, which was at age 6. The numbers don’t quite add up.

But, that’s okay, because there’s one final slice of proof for the Katy Perry and JonBenet Ramsey theory: their eyebrows are identical.

Another user jumped on board with Dave Johnson and uploaded the video below, exposing the apparent similarities between their eyebrow structures.

“You know, the eyebrows don’t change much on a person. You’re born with your eyebrows. They’re very close, very close indeed, aren’t they?… As you know, this whole entertainment industry is just a charade — you really don’t know the truth.”

Has Katy Perry addressed this conspiracy theory? Not exactly. But, yet another YouTuber pointed out that the singer did, in fact, mention JonBenet Ramsey in her memoir.

“Not that I was one of those stage kids,” Katy Perry wrote. “There was no JonBenét Ramsey inside of me waiting to burst out.”

And the fact that Katy Perry denies the fact that she was ever JonBenet Ramsey is exactly why the theorists believe she is. She’s allegedly admitting the “truth,” but in secret.

Teen Voguescoffs at the idea of Katy Perry being the grown-up version of JonBenet Ramsey, mocking one of the thinnest arguments made by conspiracy theorists yet; Katy Perry once tweeted the words to “God Bless America,” which was JonBenet Ramsey’s pageant song.

What do you think? Is it a compelling argument? Is Katy Perry truly JonBenet Ramsey as an adult?
