Khloé Kardashian Had ‘A Lot Of Anxiety’ About Lamar Odom Attending Kanye West’s Fashion Show

Lamar Odom accompanied his estranged wife Khloé Kardashian earlier this month as she went to New York City for Kanye West’s Madison Square Garden Fashion Show. While the event went off without a hitch, Khloé admits she was nervous about Lamar going with her.

On Tuesday, during an appearance on Hollywood Today, Khloé told hosts Ross Mathews and Garcelle Beauvais that she really didn’t want Lamar to go to New York, according to Us Weekly.

“I did not want him to really go to New York. It’s scary,” she said.

West’s Yeezy Season 3 presentation was the first public appearance Lamar has made since he was released from the hospital last month after his near-fatal overdose in October 2015 at a legal brothel in Nevada. At the time, Lamar suffered from nearly a dozen seizures, and his doctors feared the worst. Khloé said she was worried traveling to the event and attending the fashion show would be too much too soon for Lamar, who a little more than a month ago, couldn’t even walk.

“I had a ton of anxiety,” Kardashian said. “I’m so protective. Your first time out at Madison Square Garden? Like, I just felt like, ‘Is it too much stimulus for his brain? Who knows?'”

Despite her reservations, Kardashian said Odom were cleared to go, and getting to attend the show meant a lot to Lamar, who leaned on West a lot during his recovery.

“He was good to go and it meant so much to Lamar,” she said. “And I thought it was so dope of Kanye to want to walk out with Lamar. And just that feeling for Lamar to do that on his own.”

“Kanye would come to the hospital and play his album for Lamar – and Lamar couldn’t speak at this time – and music is definitely a form of therapy,” Kardashian added. “Lamar would say he could understand everything, he just couldn’t get the words out…. When he was able to finally speak, he would always say, ‘Man, Kanye really helped me. I love that he would come,’ and just do that for him.”

As Lamar continues to recover from his overdose, and is seen out and about more often with Khloé, rumors have started swirling that the estranged couple may be rekindling their romance. Kardashian called off their divorce after Lamar was hospitalized, and on the February 22 episode of Kocktails With Khloé, she talked about the possibility of them getting back together some day.

“I hope so,” Kardashian said. “I mean, that would be, like, the best dream… like, OK, I hope that first marriage could happen again. But it’s really hard to erase everything that happened. Just building a friendship back is what I’m doing now, it has nothing intimately, nothing at all, just pure love, and I want someone to learn how to love themselves again.”

During Lamar’s whole ordeal, many fans wondered how the Keeping up with the Kardashians star was able to stand by his side. Not only did he overdose on drugs, he did so in a brothel. For some people, that would be enough to end a relationship indefinitely. However, Khloé said she had her reasons for remaining by his side through it all.

“I know what a great man Lamar is and what a beautiful heart he has, but sometimes he has greater demons, that has nothing to do with his character or what a beautiful person he is,” she said. “There’s certain times that people deserve your sympathy.”
