Ellen DeGeneres Gets Giggling Gwen Stefani To Reveal How Blake Shelton ‘Popped The Question’: Their Cutest PDA Pics [Photos]

Ellen DeGeneres is famed for her interviewing skills, skillfully persuading even the most reluctant celebrities to spill their darkest, deepest secrets. And even though there was nothing especially dark about Gwen Stefani’s romance with Blake Shelton, the pop star initially substituted giggles for an answer when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, February 25, reported Us Weekly.

Using humor to try to get the singer to dish, Ellen first referred to the fact that the No Doubt front woman will be taking on a new role on The Voice. But the witty DeGeneres phrased her question as if she were asking about how Shelton had proposed.

“When he popped the big question about you being his mentor [on The Voice] — how did he do that?” asked Ellen.

DeGeneres was clearly entertained by the word play, but it backfired, because Ellen gave Gwen a case of the giggles.

“Did you rehearse that before?” demanded the laughing pop singer. “I want to be on that show as much as possible.… I got so much out of it.”

That led into another chance for DeGeneres to play with words.

“You did!” pointed out Ellen in terms of what The Voice indirectly “gave” to Gwen.

Stefani appreciated the humor from DeGeneres.

“Oh, my God! You’re so good. You’re so good at your job,” praised the mother-of-three (Zuma, Apollo, and Kingston).

During the interview, Ellen also gave the pop singer the opportunity to plug her music, reported E! News.

The newest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, came together quickly.

“Your CD comes out in a couple of weeks, and it’s amazing how quickly this happened,” DeGeneres noted.

Stefani termed it “unbelievable” in her discussion with Ellen, adding that she wrote as many as five songs last month.

“It’s just really cool to make music and be in real time and share it with everybody and feel everybody’s love and support and energy. It’s just been a magical record.”

DeGeneres tried other ways to get the pop star to dish about her country crooner, showing some of their cutest PDA poses in a series of photos. The parade of pictures displaying the two together made it very clear just what both of The Voice coaches had gotten out of the show.

“So, let’s talk about Blake,” suggested Ellen.

Among the photos that DeGeneres arranged to display on the screen positioned behind Ellen were pictures showing the canoodling couple at a pre-Grammy party.

“Aw!” gushed DeGeneres.

Shelton’s girlfriend tried her best to resist Ellen.

“I thought it would be a good idea not to talk about Blake, to see what would happen,” she proposed.

But DeGeneres was too quick for her.

“Okay,” said Ellen agreeably. “Let’s just look at pictures then.”

One of the favorite ones shown gave DeGeneres the perfect punch line.

“They didn’t have enough chairs at that event? You had to sit on Blake’s lap?” demanded Ellen.

DeGeneres and her guest then had a mini love-fest.

“I love you,” giggled Gwen.

“I love you,” declared Ellen.

DeGeneres also earned another compliment regarding how successfully she weaves curve balls into what seems like an innocent conversation.

“She’s so good because you just think you’re talking to a normal person, then she’ll just throw one in,” added the pop star.

“I am a normal person,” retorted Ellen.

But Stefani pointed out just how successful DeGeneres is as an interviewer as well as a comedian.

“This show is, like…I just come on and giggle and laugh,” she declared. “It’s so embarrassing.”
