Ryan Reynolds Watches Audition For ‘Deadpool 2,’ Discusses ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Title With Hugh Jackman

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has been critically acclaimed, and now has actors forming a line to take part in the Deadpool sequel. In particular, James Corden, the Late Late Show host, wants a part in the upcoming new Marvel movie, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Begin Again actor is excited about auditioning to play Ryan Reynolds’ onscreen sidekick in Deadpool 2, as he himself proved during his Thursday’s late night show.

The segment with Corden auditioning for the role features Ryan Reynolds sitting behind a desk in his office. To impress Reynolds, Corden tries on a great variety of sidekick costumes that in his opinion could work in Deadpool 2: Potato Man (“If you don’t do this, Marvel will”), Strawberry Shortfuse (“I have a really short fuse, and I’m a strawberry”), the Iceman (“The Iceman cometh all over you! He probably doesn’t say that”), a clam (“I’m open for business”), Rave-y Crockett (Davy Crockett at a rave), and many others.

However, none of the costumes left Ryan Reynolds too impressed, but the actor nonetheless came up with an idea to try out Double Deadpool. The segment sees Corden dressed in Deadpool‘s costume and asking Reynolds how to use bathroom in this “thing.” Ryan Reynolds comes up with a brilliant answer.

“Oh, you just go.”

Ryan Reynolds has recently discussed his People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” title, according to Vanity Fair. The actor, along with his Marvel colleague – Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine – discussed what was it like being the sexiest man alive: a title that both actors have been honored with.

The two actors interviewed one another, with Ryan Reynolds asking Jackman questions about his new Eddie the Eagle movie. One of the questions was whether Jackman performs all of his stunt scenes by himself. Jackman answered that if it’s sex scenes, he does them all by himself.

At the end of the interview, Ryan Reynolds gives Jackman a knife and asks him to help him recreate a scene from the 1986 movie Crocodile Dundee. “That’s a knife” is one of the most memorable quotes from the 1980s. Even The Simpsons parodied it in their Australian episode.

In her article written for Bustle, Sage Young writes about how Ryan Reynolds’ nude scene in Deadpool broke new ground for the superhero genre. Young outlines that regard nudity and sexuality, Deadpool has challenged its Marvel movie family, as Reynolds pulled off a whole new way of presenting nudity and sexuality in superhero movies.

The article talks about how Deadpool blew up a raging double standard in the movie industry. In particular, Young refers to Ryan Reynolds’ scene where he goes “full-frontal,” calling it “a little bit revolutionary.”

The nude scene from Deadpool was discussed by Ryan Reynolds during his last appearance on Ellen’s show. During the interview, the 39-year-old actor confirmed that he is “not above taking his clothes off for money.”

The author of the Bustle article comments on how Ryan Reynolds faced no major risks during that scene compared to female actors in the same situation.

“He won’t be typecast as sex kitten or see his asking price drop or have gossip columnists insinuate that he slept his way to the top.”

It was also noted by Young that for the most part, the movie industry relies on female nudity, and that it seems like going nude in the movie is “something any actress should be prepared to do,” while her ability to “kick a**” in the superhero movie is only the second priority.

“Maybe losing your pants in a movie won’t get you a Nobel Peace Prize, but it does help to move the needle in terms of gender equality in the industry.”
