Oh, Kanye, you’ve outdone yourself this time.
Kanye West is back to doing what he does best these days: insulting people on Twitter. He had taken a few days off, but now Kanye is back with a vengeance, unleashing what may be his harshest rant ever and keeping his feud with Taylor Swift alive in the process.
On Monday, a review of West’s career written by a Canadian music producer and a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame was posted on Lefsetz. The review, which is no longer available, was quite negative, reports Elite Daily.
“Unlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, it’s unlikely that we’ll be quoting too many of Kanye’s songs 20 years from now,” part of the review read.
“He didn’t open up new avenues of public discourse like NWA, or introduce the world to a new art form like Grandmaster Flash, or even meaningfully and memorably address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.
“What he is a true artist at is living his life out loud – and shoving it down the throats of the rest of us whether we give a s*** or not. He’s like that flasher who interrupts a critical game by running naked across the field. Is that art???”
Many sources have agreed that Ezrin’s words are a bit ignorant, as Kanye West is certainly a huge influence on popular culture, let alone hip-hop, and will more than likely be remembered for a long time.
In fact, notes the Oregonian, Ezrin’s Kanye West critique “is embarrassingly wrong about West’s impact on hip-hop and his music’s cultural legacy.”
Apparently Kanye felt the same way, because the torrent of tweets that followed was extremely severe, even compared to the many hate-filled Twitter rants Kanye has gone on in the past few weeks.
Vulture relays that “in a firestorm of tweets, Yeezy held nothing back when he responded [to Ezrin’s] open rant,” and Entertainment Express agrees Kanye’s attack was “scathing” and overly brutal.
Also, in case you missed it, there was a definite Taylor Swift dig in there.
Why, Taylor Swift, that’s who!
So not only is Bob Ezrin now a hard “yes” on Kanye’s rapidly growing list of enemies, but remember West’s cold war with Taylor Swift that Swift told Vanity Fair was over last summer? Well, after Swift’s very anti-Kanye Album of the Year acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammys and now West’s anti-Taylor comment, it is definitely back on.
Do you think Kanye’s fiery retaliation was overkill?
