Dallas Cowboys News: Dez Bryant Progressing Well In Foot Rehab

Dez Bryant was expected to break out with a massive season in 2015 for the Dallas Cowboys, but that did not end up being the case. He went down with a foot injury in the second game of the season and was only able to play in nine total games.

It was a brutal way for the Cowboys’ star wide receiver to go down. Even when he came back later in the season, it was obvious that he wasn’t back to full strength. Soon after he made his comeback, the Cowboys decided to shut Bryant down again, and he underwent another surgery just before the offseason arrived.

According to a report from Todd Archer of ESPN, Bryant received good news from his doctors and is progressing well in rehab.

Dallas has to be very excited to hear the news that Bryant is on the mend and should participate in their offseason program. They need Bryant to get back to being a superstar receiver as soon as possible.

Throughout the course of the 2015 NFL season, Bryant ended up catching 31 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns.

At 27-years-old, Bryant still has a lot of football left to play in his career. He was just given a massive five-year, $70 million contract ahead of the 2015 season. There is no one who can replace Bryant’s production in the Dallas offense, and Jerry Jones’ team won’t have a chance to make a run in the NFC without Bryant leading the way.

There is no question that the Cowboys have the pieces to turn things around heading into 2016. Jason Garrett will stick around in Dallas for at least one more season and is hoping to resume where they left off in 2014. Dallas was considered to be a contender in the NFC last season before the injury bug bit Bryant and star quarterback Tony Romo.

It appears that the Cowboys are set from an offensive standpoint if Bryant and Romo can stay healthy. Dallas has put together one of the top offensive lines in the NFL, and they also have other playmakers around their two stars. They could look to upgrade the running back position, although Darren McFadden did an excellent job in that area.

Defensively, however, the Cowboys could use some help at many different positions. They have been needing to upgrade their defense for a few years now but have allowed the offense to carry them. That may work here and there, but no team with a poor defense is likely to win a Super Bowl.

No matter what happens this offseason, the Cowboys are going to be a much better team in 2016. Bryant will be out to prove that he is still an elite wide receiver, which will motivate him to work even harder and improve even more. That alone will be a major upgrade over the dismal wide receiving corps that the Cowboys had to work with last season.

Dallas is headed in the right direction and should be a relevant team when it comes to playoff contention next season.

Bryant is well-loved in Dallas, and the Cowboys’ fan base will welcome him back with open arms. After seeing how poorly the Cowboys’ offense played without him and even with him after the injury, it will be intriguing to see what kind of numbers he puts up next year at full health.

All of that being said, it will be great to see Bryant back on the field in Dallas and healthy again. It is never easy to see such a talented player held back because of an injury, but it is great to see them come through those injuries even better than before.
