James Holmes Accomplice? Witness Says Shooter Was Let In After Phone Call

Much confusion has ensued in the wake of the Colorado shooting, in which fans at a midnight showing of hotly-anticipated summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises were ambushed, and 12 died.

Suspected shooter James Holmes was quickly taken into custody without incident after the carnage, and a puzzling picture began to emerge of a lone gunman who was, by most accounts, an average young man.

Despite the intense media scrutiny, few traces of Holmes were found on websites and social media, save for what is believed to be the former med student’s profile on sex meetup site Adult Friend Finder.

Authorities quickly confirmed that despite the scope of the tragedy in the Colorado shootings, it was believed suspect James Holmes acted alone in the theater that night. Sorting through conflicting victim accounts is never an easy task for law enforcement, particularly as the venue was dark, and most of the witnesses were focused on running for their lives amidst the horror unfolding inside the theater.

However, one victim present at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises says that suspected shooter James Holmes didn’t act alone, and that another person present in the theater let the young man in through an exit shortly before the tragedy began.

An unnamed witness tells a local news source that a person, who may have been Holmes himself, propped open the exit door after appearing to receive a phone call shortly before the shooting began:

“As I was sitting down to get my seat, I noticed that a person came up to the front row, the front right, sat down, and as credits were going, it looked like he got a phone call. He went out toward the emergency exit doorway, which I thought was unusual to take a phone call.”

The witness continues:

“And it seemed like he probably pried it open, or probably did not let it latch all the way. As soon as the movie started, somebody came in, all black, gas mask, armor, and threw a gas can into the audience, and it went off, and then there were gunshots that took place.”

No other evidence has emerged that James Holmes had any assistance in carrying out the Dark Knight Rises Massacre, but the witness did not say he believed the person and Holmes were one and the same.
