Powerball is the nation’s most popular multi-state lottery game. It is run by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) and tickets cost $2 per play. For an extra dollar you can add the Power Play Multiplier to your ticket that will increase the amount of your non-jackpot winnings. All Powerball jackpots start at $40 million, making it one of the largest jackpot lottery games across the country. The jackpot rolls over every time there isn’t a grand prize winner, but that doesn’t mean if you don’t match all five white balls and the Power Ball you’re out of luck. In fact, there are nine ways to win at Powerball, and you can become a millionaire by wining the second-tier, non-jackpot prize.

When adding the Power Play to your Powerball ticket, you will multiply the prize amount of all non-jackpot prizes; however, the second-tier prize of $1 million is multiplied to $2 million. Power Play amounts are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 10x. The 10x multiplier is only for jackpots less than $150 million. The numbers on the white balls range from 1-69. The red Powerball ranges from 1-26. You can choose to select your own Powerball numbers to play on your ticket, or select a Quick Pick (QP) and let the computer randomly select your numbers for you.

The largest Powerball jackpot in all history was drawn on January 13, 2016. The Powerball jackpot had rolled since November, 2015, and had reached $1.58 billion. Three winning tickets were sold and the jackpot was split three ways. One winning ticket was sold in California, one in Tennessee, and one in Florida. To date, the California winner has yet to come forward and claim the prize. The Tennessee winners have come forward. They are John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tennessee. The Florida winners are Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt from Melbourne Beach, Florida. John and Lisa Robinson stated their winning ticket was a Quick Pick, while Maureen Smith played the same numbers she had played for over 30 years.

Florida Powerball Winners

The excitement that has mounted over Powerball since the $1.58 billion drawing has been great. More people are playing Powerball than ever before, and there is great anticipation and excitement to see when the next billion dollar Powerball jackpot will hit. According to changes in Powerball’s game design, more billion dollar jackpots are expected for the future. As the Powerball grand prize is harder to claim, more people will win non-jackpot prizes.

Since the California Powerball winner has yet to come forward and claim their prize, there has been great speculation as to who the person is and why they haven’t come forward. Some have suggested that the California Powerball jackpot winner hasn’t come forward because he or she died tragically after the win.

Did you play Powerball and are you waiting for the winning numbers in tonight’s drawing? Stay tuned because we will have the updated information along with the winning numbers and live drawing of the video that kicks off at 11:00 p.m. ET.

Good luck!
