‘Quantico’ Actress Priyanka Chopra Takes On ‘Baywatch’ Heroes

Priyanka Chopra is a widely recognized actress in her native country of India, and she’s now making a name for herself in the United States as well. Starring in Quantico, Chopra has become a familiar face in many homes, but she’s ready to make her big screen debut in Baywatch, even if that means running herself ragged, jumping from one set to the other.

The traveling required to be on two different sets will be nothing new to Priyanka, who’s parents frequently relocated for work. Still, Chopra says she’s not looking forward to the hectic schedule, though she is excited about working with Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the Baywatch crew.

Priyanka Copra Lives A Hectic Life And She Loves It

Chopra says her new schedule will kick in as soon as the Oscar awards wrap up on February 28, requiring her to head straight for the airport. She’ll be flying to Miami, where Baywatch will already be filming. She won’t find much time to relax, because she’s also going to be flying back and forth to Montréal, where Quantico is still shooting. Additionally, Priyanka has commitments to her own production company in India. As hectic as this makes her life, Chopra says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fortunately, the producers of both Baywatch and Quantico are willing to compromise, so Chopra can fulfill all of her commitments.

“I will be juggling Baywatch and Quantico until April. So, it will be a lot of travel between Miami and Montréal,” Priyanka says. “Makers of both have allowed me to do the balancing act. It is going to be crazy. I have a nightmare schedule ahead. I shoot for Quantico from Monday to Friday.”

Chopra adds that she overcame jet lag years ago and the neon lights of places like New York City and Hollywood keep her feeling exhilarated, but she will catch a nap, when things start to catch up on her.

Priyanka Copra Switches Sides, As She Moves From Quantico To Baywatch

The Quantico actress has been playing one of the good guys for a full season now, but Priyanka reveals she’s ready to mix things up. When she stars in the Baywatch reboot film, it’s safe to say Chopra won’t be running around in one of those red bathing suits. This won’t be the first time Priyanka takes on the role of a bad girl, however. She’s previously played villains in the Bollywood films Aitraaz (2004) and 7 Khoon Maaf (2011).

For Baywatch, the role in which Chopra has been cast was originally intended for a male actor.

“My character of Victoria in Baywatch is really mean,” Priyanka admits.

When she auditioned for a part in Baywatch, Priyanka says she had been trying for one of the lifeguard roles, but director Seth Gordon saw much more potential for her as a villain. As a result, the part of the male villain was rewritten specifically for Chopra. She says she found the idea of facing off against Dwayne Johnson and a full squad of lifeguards to be an intriguing idea.

Chopra says it means more to her than just a job to be working on the Baywatch film. Even though joining Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario is exciting, the project is that much more thrilling for the feelings of nostalgia it brings to her mind.

“I have grown up watching the show with those people running on the beach in their red swimsuits, and now, I am one of them.”

Baywatch is scheduled for a May 11, 2017 theatrical premiere.
