‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Norman Reedus Reveals Daryl Dixon’s Secrets — Will He Be A Video Game Character?

The Walking Dead Season 6 re-opened with a bang this past Sunday and some TWD fans are wondering what Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon character could do next. After all, Daryl went into overkill mode by grabbing that rocket launcher to blow up some walkers and Negan’s men, so how could he top that experience? By meeting Jesus in person, of course. But Reedus has also discussed other physical aspects of his character and how he hopes to one day be a video game character.

[Warning: The following article does contain some minor spoilers]

In Rob Kirkman’s graphic novels, issue 91 of The Walking Dead introduced a TWD character named Paul Monroe, but he is more commonly known by the nickname Jesus. According to the Spoiling Dead Fans, it is expected that Rick and Daryl will be running into Jesus while they are making a supply run for Alexandria.

“Jesus literally bumps into Rick and Daryl at a gas station (he pretends to run from walkers to bump into Rick and steal the truck keys), he smooth-talks them into thinking he’s not a threat, they ask each other if they’re a part of a community and both parties answer no. Jesus attempts to leave, but Rick thinks he’s kinda cool (and too groomed to not be a part of some sort of community) and wonders if he would join them (Daryl: ‘No! This guy calls himself Jesus!’). Then there are some noises behind the gas station, they investigate, find a bunch of firecrackers, realize that the keys have been stolen, and when they get back they see Jesus driving off in the truck.”

Of course, they don’t let Jesus take the wheel. The resulting chase scene apparently is a little silly since Daryl chases Jesus while banjo music plays in the background.

Norman Reedus’ Muscles

Fighting Jesus and walkers means that Daryl Dixon’s body needs to be in good shape. Norman admits he will never be People‘s sexiest guy, nor will he ever try to be like that, but he does try to work out those biceps a little in order to look good for magazine covers.

For example, when he was on the cover of Men’s Fitness, Norman says the secret to make those muscles pop was using sandbags.

“This is how it works—they give you sandbags and you have to stand in front of thirty people and go like this until you feel like you are going to pee in your pants,” Reedus explained as he pantomimed bicep curls. “And then they take a picture and you do it some more…That’s how they jack you up. It’s all done with sandbags.”

Even though his arms are pretty shapely and toned, Reedus claims he purposefully tries to not overdo it at the gym unlike so many other stars.

“I try and stay in somewhat shape for The Walking Dead but I think it would be stupid if I took off my shirt on The Walking Dead and had a six-pack,” the actor told E! Online. “It just doesn’t work. You would look at it and go, ‘Ponce! Phony actor working on his abs. You know what I mean?”

Norman Reedus’ Video Game

Of course, you don’t exactly need a fit body to look good as a video game character. In the past, Hideo Kojima of Silent Hill fame claimed he was try to work it out so that Reedus could play a major role in one of his video games.

“I don’t know when, but it definitely would be great to work with him again,” Kojima told IGN. “I’m a fan of Norman, and he’s an extremely nice guy. And last year he was worried, so I went up with him and told him, ‘everything is fine. I became independent. I’m doing my own thing now.'”

Besides The Walking Dead Season 6, Norman Reedus is also starring in the upcoming Triple 9 movie, which has a release date of February 26, 2016, in the United States.
