Caitlyn Jenner Cosmetics Line Could Be In The Cards — ‘I Am Cait’ Star Trademarks Her Name

Move over Kylie, Caitlyn Jenner is coming for your cosmetics crown. E! Online reports that Caitlyn has filed a trademark for a makeup line. Based on the paperwork she filed, Jenner will be able to sell makeup, nail polish, nail polish remover, fragrances, non-medicinal skin care preparations, and skin cleansers in her name.

The choice to trademark her name should be no surprise to anyone who has been observing Caitlyn Jenner’s transgender journey so far. In an interview with Time Magazine, Jenner spoke about how important “presentation” was for her.

“One thing that has always been important for me, and it may seem very self-absorbed or whatever, is first of all your presentation of who you are,” Jenner said. “I think it’s much easier for a trans woman or a trans man who authentically kind of looks and plays the role. So what I call my presentation.”

Jenner added that the fact that she’s constantly being photographed by papparazzi also contributes to her being more conscious about how she looks.

“I try to take that seriously,” she added.

“I think it puts people at ease. If you’re out there and, to be honest with you, if you look like a man in a dress, it makes people uncomfortable. So the first thing I can do is try to present myself well. I want to dress well. I want to look good. When I go out, as Kim [Kardashian] says, you’ve got to rock it because the paparazzi will be there. The second thing I want to do in living my life authentically is be intelligent on the subject. Hopefully as time goes on I’ll learn more and more and more and get better at that.”

Caitlyn obviously wouldn’t be the first Jenner involved in the beauty industry. Her daughter, Kylie Jenner, has a very successful line of lipsticks that she packages in what she calls, “lip-kits.” The Kylie Jenner lip kits were incredibly successful and sold out in seconds soon after they launched.

But despite Kylie’s success, TMZ, who first broke the story of a possible Caitlyn Jenner makeup line, reports that there’s no clear timeline yet for when we’ll see makeup from her on the shelves. Looks like it’s simply preemptive measure to prevent anyone else from stealing the idea.

While Caitlyn seems to be getting more comfortable with her transgender identity, she’s facing new criticism for her politics. Jenner is a conservative Republican, something she confirmed in her revelatory interview with Diane Sawyer last year.

During a speaking engagement at the University of Pennsylvania, Jenner said that she gets a lot of backlash for admitting that she intends to continue to vote Republican, Refinery29 reports

“I have gotten more flack for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans,” she said at the event.

According to Refinery29, a Twitter follower asked why Caitlyn still supported the Republican party at the event. Buzz Bissinger, the author of the Vanity Fair piece where Caitlyn made her debut to the world, insisted that a change in gender does not necessarily mean that one’s political beliefs have to change.

The Republican party is definitely not known for a supportive stance on LGBTQ rights. In fact, the party is known for actively opposing those rights.

As Refinery29 notes, each of the remaining six Republican presidential candidates have been targeted by Human Rights Campaign for being so staunchly against rights for people who fall into the LGBTQ spectrum. According to Human Rights campaign, the current GOP frontrunner, Donald Trump has said that he’s a firm advocate for “traditional marriage,” but he’s also said that he does not support discrimination based on sexual orientation.
