Kanye West’s Yeezy Vs Air Jordan 10 Retro OVO – Drake And Michael Jordan Team Up On The Latest Shoe All Sneakerheads Want

Michael Jordan and Drake’s brand new shoe line of shoes is making a lot of money. Launched on the heels of Kanye West’s new Yeezy collection, the new Air Jordan 10 Retro OVOs are threatening a shoe takeover following their weekend release. In fact, avid collectors are now willing to dish out over four times the retail price to get a hold of the new Air Jordan’s.

In speaking with TMZ, Jordan Geller, who is an expert in the realm of shoe collections, revealed that Jordan and Drake’s new shoes originally sold for $225. A week after their release, collectors are spending close to $1,000 a pair, which amounts to an increase of some 400 percent on the retail price.

Apparently, the shoes are what every sneakerhead wants because of a combination of Drake and Jordan’s star power. With the shoes selling so well, there is no telling how high the price might jump before things start to settle down.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Drake discussed his relationship with Jordan and how close the two have gotten in recent months. This includes the two spending time together playing ping pong prior to the NBA’s 2016 All-Star Celebrity Game.

“Michael Jordan talked to me earlier today. He told me to go out there, told me what plays to avoid running, told me: ‘If you want the champagne and cigars, you gotta win,'” Drake explained. “I mean, Mike’s like a mentor and a great friend to me, so that’s always a highlight. We played ping pong today and I won — a lot.”

Nike’s idea to pair Drake and Jordan was a genius move. Not only is Jordan one of the most iconic figures in the history of the NBA, but Drake is quickly becoming one of the most successful artists of his generation.

“I’m 29 years old and I think I’m in a position to still be able to speak to the youth in our city, let them know to be proud of what we have,” he stated. “To avoid bringing harm to one another, to avoid just being out here without a purpose, maybe.”

In addition to coaching a team during the NBA All-Star Weekend, Drake recently grabbed five Grammy Award nominations. This included taking home a gold gramophone for best rap album for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

For his part, Jordan has long been a mainstay at Nike, and his Air Jordan’s have been one of the company’s highest selling shoes. Taken together with Drake’s popularity as a singer, there is little wonder why their new line of shoes is doing so well.

Meanwhile, the success of Nike’s newest offering follows the heated rivalry between Jumpman and Kanye West’s new Adidas line, Yeezy. According to the International Business Times, West initiated the feud on Twitter by taking stabs at his former business partner, Nike.

Although West has yet to say anything about the recent success of the Air Jordan 10 Retro OVOs, it probably won’t be long before West tweets something about Drake and Jordan. The only question is when West will strike and whether or not he’ll go after Jordan, whom he claims no beef with, or Drake.

For West, the success of Nike follows what has been a rough week for his brand and image. Not only is Yeezy having to compete against the new Air Jordans, but his beef with Taylor Swift reached new heights during the 2016 Grammys. Swift dished on West during her acceptance speech for best album of the year. For now, things only appear to be getting worse for West.
