WWE Rumors: The Next Paul Heyman Guys Are…

There have been a handful of “Paul Heyman Guys” since one of the most brilliant minds in wrestling returned to WWE, but it’s obvious that Brock Lesnar is the main one. CM Punk was another successful one, but then there was Curtis Axel and Ryback who didn’t last very long in the role. Still, there could always be room for another one or two, and the current perfect candidates for that role are the newly heel-turned Dudley Boyz.

Two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw, the Dudley Boyz turned heel by attacking The Usos and then gave a promo on the following SmackDown that sealed their new path in WWE. They said that they were now going to be doing for just them, and not pleasing the fans with putting people through tables and things like that.

Last night on Raw, they gave another promo in which they confirmed they were going to watch out for them and them alone. It was proof that the Dudley Boyz are great on the mic and so much better as the heel tag team.

Later in the night, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns had a bit of a one-on-one in the ring with Heyman representing his client, Brock Lesnar, as reported by WWE. Things ended in decent fashion, and Heyman stepped out of the ring.

That was when it happened.

The Dudley Boyz came out of nowhere and attacked Roman Reigns for no real known reason at the time. As Dean Ambrose came forth, he saved his friend, and then tried to attack him afterward, but it set up a tag team main event for this week’s SmackDown of the Dudley Boyz vs. Ambrose and Reigns, per WrestleZone.

After Monday Night Raw was over, the “Raw Fallout” was posted online and the Dudley Boyz were asked why they attacked Reigns. Bubba Ray let it be known that they aren’t a “nostalgia act” and that being the Dudley Boyz of old earns them respect, according to D-Von Dudley.

Maybe the Dudley Boyz were just looking to make a statement by attacking one of the top names in WWE, but their timing was quite interesting.

Not only did they attack the superstar who is rumored to be in the main event of WrestleMania 32, but they did it right after speaking with Paul Heyman. You know, the guy who gave them their start back in 1996 in ECW.

Making the Dudley Boyz the next “Paul Heyman Guys” would be beneficial to just about every single person involved.

First of all, the Dudleys are as close to already being “Paul Heyman Guys” as you can possibly get. They’ve known him for 20 years, and have always been close to him. Let’s not forget that they were a part of the huge “Invasion” angle years ago after WWE purchased WCW.

Pairing them up with Heyman would make a lot of sense because they’re great as heels, and the partnership would also make sense from a continuity standpoint.

As for Heyman, it would also give him reason to be on TV more often. Brock Lesnar is likely going to take another break after WrestleMania 32, and that usually means that Heyman is gone for a while too. If Heyman had some more clients to work with (the Dudleys), then he’d have reason to be on WWE television.

The Dudley Boyz turning heel is probably one of the best things that could have happened to them, and it’s going to breathe new life into the tag team division. Making them the next “Paul Heyman Guys” would elevate them even more and the ECW connection makes a lot of sense.
