‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Negan To Kill Daryl And Glenn? Andrew Lincoln Talks Season Finale

The Walking Dead really picked up the pace in the mid-season premiere “No Way Out.” As we head toward the end of season 6, The Walking Dead spoilers all predict that the sudden injection of action and suspense won’t be slowing down anytime soon. With all the excitement comes a lot of death; this is The Walking Dead after all. While fans understand that not all the good guys can survive every single time, there have been several indications that TWD will be ending season 6 with the death of at least one major character. Andrew Lincoln recently commented on his reaction to the season 6 finale and that has fans wondering if Negan is going to kill Daryl or Glenn in the coming episodes.

Right now, Daryl’s fate is really up in the air and all the clues we have about whether he survives are coming from the writers and actors on The Walking Dead. We can’t really use the comic books to spoil Daryl’s story because he doesn’t exist. That has both helped Dixon’s storyline because writers can basically do what they please and it also puts Daryl in constant danger. Many believe that Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus’ immense popularity will keep him on the show.

There has been plenty of argument about Daryl being a TWD cash cow as far as his fan base, appearances, and merchandise are concerned, and that is not a lie. To be honest, that’s what saved Daryl from meeting his end in season 1 and continued to carry him through from season to season on The Walking Dead. Will AMC keep Daryl Dixon on board indefinitely simply because he’s just as much a favorite as Rick Grimes?

Many have speculated that Daryl will die in season 6 at the hands of Negan. Norman Reedus has hinted in recent interviews that Negan is a real threat and that he may be deadlier than any threat to come before. Does that mean multiple significant characters will die in season 6 at the hands of Negan?

AMC’s The Walking Dead is starting to follow the comic book series more closely than in previous seasons. If TWD continues to stay on that path, we can expect Glenn Rhee to be killed by Negan in the coming episodes. In the comic books, Glenn dies in a gruesome scene when Negan hits him with a barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat that he lovingly calls Lucille. TWD showrunner Scott Gimple has already said the series would not follow this story line from the comics. Does that mean that Gimple is opting not to kill Glenn off in such a horrific way? Will Glenn be killed off at all?

Up until recently, there was really no reason for Negan to want to kill Daryl, aside from the fact that he’s supposedly a bad man, but there was still the suspicion that it was going to happen. Now there is a reason to believe that Negan may hold a huge grudge against Daryl because he may have watched the rocket launcher take out his gang of bikers. Uproxx posted a close-up of the scene where Daryl blasts Negan’s goons with a rocket launcher. Way off in the distance, you can see a car pull out just before Daryl pulls the trigger. It’s not clear if that was a mistake during production that didn’t get edited out or if that car contained Negan or someone close to him and he knows Daryl killed his men.

What we do know is that something huge and upsetting is going to happen in the TWD season 6 finale. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Lincoln talked about how upsetting the finale is going to be. “I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script,” Lincoln admitted. “It was the first day in the whole six years of working on The Walking Dead that I was late for work because I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick. And that was just after reading it.”

It turns out that Lincoln is in good company. Lauren Cohan who plays Maggie also had a hard time filming the end and it sounds like she was dropping some hints in a recent interview too. “The word ‘finale’ gives me a physical reaction because it’s the hardest day on set that I’ve ever had in my life,” Cohan said. She went on to talk about how she didn’t even want to go to work on the day the finale was shot. So does that mean Glenn dies in the finale? That would cause a lot of grief for Rick and Maggie as well as the actors who play them.

No matter what, some of the good guys are going to die in the latter half of season 6. Norman Reedus said so himself when talking about Negan’s arrival. Will it be Glenn and Daryl who get killed off or is it someone else? So far, the most evidence points toward Glenn and Daryl making an exit over any of the other major characters in The Walking Dead.
