Val Kilmer Health Looking Up Since Spotted Without Breathing Aid

Two months ago, actor Val Kilmer caused concern when he was seen in public with what appeared to be a tracheostomy tube around his neck. The 56-year-old star was said to be experiencing health issues and even was the subject of rumors about a possible battle with cancer. The star never fully disclosed what the illness was, however, that required him to have the assistance of the breathing tube.

This past week, the actor was seen in public without the breathing aid and looking in better health than he was two months prior.

The Daily Mail shares details about Kilmer’s mystery illness from a few months back.

“Back in October Val had taken to Facebook to deny that he was battling throat cancer, following rumors of ill health. He did, however, admit that an undisclosed procedure had left him with a ‘swelling.’According to the UK’s National Health Service website, a tracheostomy is a surgical opening in the anterior wall of the trachea to facilitate ventilation – the opening is usually maintained by use of a tracheostomy tube. A tracheostomy may be created for a number of reasons – including to deliver oxygen to the lungs when a person is unable to breathe normally after an injury or accident, or because their muscles are very weak.”

The apparatus is used to assist breathing when there is swelling of some kind in the throat, sometimes the culprit of the swelling may be a tumor, which is why speculation began that Kilmer was suffering from cancer. At the time, a spokesperson did relay to the Daily Mail that Kilmer was on hiatus for health concern, yet two months ago the star took to Facebook to deny that he was still suffering from any kind of illness.

“Just two months ago Val took to social media to deny that he was gravely ill in hospital after Radar reported that he was admitted to UCLA’s intensive care unit and could ‘barely speak.’ He wrote on Facebook: ‘Thank you all for your love and support. There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue.I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA.'”

The star has reportedly been experiencing health issues for the majority of a year, so it is certainly encouraging to learn that Val is doing better and out looking well. The star has posted a number of photos to social media over the past week with friends and coworkers, which have shown that Kilmer is on the mend and enjoying life.

The Huffington Post notes that Kilmer shared a picture of himself with Spring Breakers director Harmony Korina, who is currently in London for his show at the Gagosian Gallery. Val’s neck was uncovered, which had been constantly convered while the star was experiencing troubles with his health.

Last week, Kilmer posted a picture to Facebook within which he was all smiles alongside his best friend Tracey Emin, following a performance of The Master Builder, starring Ralph Fiennes, in London. Once again, the device that had been used to assist Val with his breathing was absent and his neck exposed.

Under the snap of himself and his dear friend, Kilmer shared about the day they enjoyed.

“Dear friend Tracey Emin took us all out to J. Sheekey and the theater. we saw Ralph Fiennes and his excellent cast of THE MASTER BUILDER. Incredible production- don’t miss it. Amazing new translation and superb directing and the set and actors- a whole world jammed into The Old Vic. Fab. Altho I wish she would have told me my hair was doing a Chris Walken… Lord.”
