‘Star Wars’ Rogue One Spoilers, Episode VII Rumors, Rey’s Mother, And Obi-Wan Appearing In More Than One Film?

Star Wars is riding a high that rivals many franchises, even possibly comic book publishers at this point. Rogue One: a Star War Story is the newest entry into the saga that is due out in December, and is followed by the unnamed episode VIII. According to Lawyer Herald, a few interesting tid bits have surfaced about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Scottish supermodel Eunice Olumide, who a non-speaking “Rebellion leader” role, state that the film will include “a tank with 20 stormtroopers and there is loads of explosions and will be of the “heist” genre of films.

Star Wars fans have every right to be excited, and also confused, but certainly details with more specificity will likely hit closer to the December release of Rogue One. Not quite as important to note, Olumide stated she is receiving Rogue One: a Star Wars Story action figure down the road, and what new Star Wars character doesn’t deserve a toy. Rogue One: a Star Wars Story is not the only new Star Wars flick that has had at least some information come down the pipe, Star Wars Episode VIII is also a benefactor as well.

According to Australia Network News, Rogue One: a Star Wars Story’s lead actress Felicity Jones will play Lyra Erso, Rey’s mother, and Rogue One’s placement in the next series of movies could be how Rey’s backstory will be told. Star Wars fans halt your rejoicing, but do not pick up your pitchforks. This is a Star Wars rumor, but there is some interesting connections. Many have tried to speculate just how Rey, Finn, and Kylo’s stories will be explained and brought to light, as the original trilogy was explained through prequesl, but the new Star Wars trilogy is its own animal entirely.

Part of the similarities between Rey (Daisy Ridely) and Felicity Jones (Lyra Erso?) is their distinct British accent, background, and their comparative physical appearance seem to be the key sticking points to why this rumor exists. Though it does not seem implausible, the facts seem a little thin, and it does still leave open one of the most sought after pieces of Star Wars information as to whom Rey’s father is. However, if Rey’s mother is force sensitive, it would remove the necessity for her father to be Luke Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi. Speaking of Obi-Wan Kenobi, more information has come to light about his possible entrance into the new Star Wars trilogy.

The Inquisitr reported last week that Obi-Wan Kenobi, more specifically the Ewan McGregor version, might return for Star Wars Episode VIII.

Latin Post reports that another source has also suggested that Obi-Wan Kenobi will return in Star Wars Episode VIII with Ewan McGregor reprising his prequel trilogy role, and Rey will be determined to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s descendant. Others have suggested the Obi-Wan might show up in Rogue One, but that seems to be less likely, as Darth Vader’s large role has far more secure backing and confirmation behind it.

Some of the new prevailing theories is that Rey is either a Kenobi or Skywalker, and if Rey is a Kenobi, it would further lend to the notion that Obi-Wan Kenobi is needed to return for Episode VIII and the new trilogy. Especially since the prior rumor is that Star Wars Episode VIII will bring Rey’s story into focus. The report also suggested that both Rey and Finn will might “use the darkside of the force.”

This could answer part of Finn’s background, and also elaborate on that moment Kylo Ren and Rey had in the forest on the Starkiller Base where Kylo attempted to seduce her to the darkside of the force in Star Wars the Force Awakens. John Boyega, who plays Finn, did not mention his use of the Darkside or being Force sensitive, but he did state that Episode VIII will be “much darker” than Episode VII.

What are your thoughts? Is the current crop of rumors likely the definitive answer to the new films greatest mystery as to just who Rey is and where she came from? Will Luke Skywalker’s master return to aid and train Rey and counsel Luke?

Leave your thoughts below.
