California Woman Angry Over Bad Haircut Returns To Salon With Gun To Shoot Barber, But Gun Jams

A California woman, 29-year-old Adrian Blanchce Swain, seemingly left the 619 Barber Shop in San Diego a happy customer as she tipped barber Manny Montero $20 for her stylish new hairdo. However, an hour later, Swain returned to the salon to complain about her new haircut with a loaded gun. The woman allegedly fired three shots at the barber, but the gun jammed, giving the stylist time to tackle the woman.

The Daily Mail reports that 29-year-old Adrian Blanchce Swain paid $20 for a Rihanna-style Mohawk that barber Manny Montero said went off without a hitch. The woman was so apparently pleased with the hairstyle that she tipped Montero an additional $20 for his work. After taking the $40, the barber went back to work. However, just an hour after Swain left the barber shop, she returned to complain about her new hairstyle. The barber says that Swain returned to the salon with a different haircut than she had left with just an hour before. The new haircut contained a large bald spot on the side that Montero says was not there when his happy client left. However, Swain blamed the barber and pulled out a loaded gun.

The woman allegedly tried to shoot Montero three times, but the gun jammed and none of the bullets were expelled. With the gun jammed, Montero and another barber jumped on top of Swain and held her to the ground until police could arrive. Another barber, Joe Cooper, at the shop says that he believes Swain was just having a “bad day” and that mental issues were likely at play when she brought in the loaded weapon to shoot Montero. Cooper claims that the hairstyle the woman wanted was “an easy haircut to do” and that Montero didn’t mess it up.

“Kind of like the Rihanna haircut. Easy haircut to do, to be honest. She’s probably just having a bad day. It was more mental with her. But the haircut, it’s a very stylish haircut though.”

Meanwhile, barber Chris Tatum, who helped Montero tackle the irate woman, says that the woman seemed pleasant enough while she was in the barber shop. He says that the woman was pleased with her haircut and tipped Montero $20 before exiting the shop and sitting in her car for over 30 minutes. However, once the woman left the vehicle to come back into the barber shop something was different. She had shaved a large bald spot into the side of her head with a razor and was brandishing a gun. Tatum says she fired at Montero three times but the gun jammed.

“Apparently she left, went out and sat in front of the shop in her vehicle for 30 minutes or so. [Police] found razors inside of her vehicle. She had shaved her hair. As she was walking in the back she was fumbling in her purse and once she got back to the back, she pulled the gun out and tried to pull the trigger three times. Grabbed her, grabbed the gun. We threw her to the ground and held her until the authorities came. It’s by the grace of God we’re still here. It could have ended up a whole different way.”

Montero told WPXI that he immediately noticed something different about the woman’s hair and that when the angry woman approached about her disdain for her new hairstyle, Montero told her that he didn’t “do that.”

“She came in with you know a bald spot on the side and I’m like, I didn’t do that.”

The barber shop terror is now being held on attempted murder charges by the San Diego police.
