Karl Malden dead at 97


Actor Karl Malden has died at the age of 97.

Malden’s career spanned seven decades, with him appearing in both movies and on television. He featured in classic Marlon Brando films such as A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront and One-Eyed Jacks, and also counts roles including Archie Lee Meighan in Baby Doll, Zebulon Prescott in How the West Was Won and General Omar Bradley in Patton. On TV he is best remembered for playing Lt. Mike Stone on the 1970s crime drama, The Streets of San Francisco.

Malden won a supporting actor Oscar in 1951 for his role as Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Malden is believed to have died from natural causes. He is survived his wife, two daughters, three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren.
