Kristin Cavallari Shares About Her Imperfect Marriage To Jay Cutler
Kristin Cavallari has never been known to hold back her opinion on any matter or subject. The reality star and now busy mom has always voiced her beliefs and perspectives openly, whether on a relationship of her own or one of a close friend or acquaintance.
However, when it comes to her now marriage to Jay Cutler, the beauty has been much more private and attempted to address matters of the heart and her relationship with the football star as a couple, as opposed to announcing facets of the marriage with the world. That being said, Cavallari has finally decided to relays some details about her relationship with Cutler via a new memoir she has written entitled, Balancing in Heels.
The 29-year-old also was candid while speaking with Wonderwall at an event where she was promoting her book recently. When appearing at Wonderful Halos and Boys & Girls Club of America, the star expressed how her marriage has meant work and struggle.
“I really talk about my relationship with Jay — and I don’t sugarcoat anything. I’m very honest about the fact that we don’t have a perfect relationship. But we’re doing everything we can to make it work.”
Cavallari, known for her feisty ways on the reality hit shows such as Laguna Beach and The Hills, tied the knot with the NFL quarterback in summer of 2013. However, Kristin expresses that the relationship has not been a fairy tale in the slightest. Instead, she describes her marriage and relationship with the athlete as more of a roller coaster.
Wonderwall recaps the timeline of the couple’s relationship to this point that Cavallari has chosen to document it.
“The duo were first linked in late 2010 and got engaged within less than a year. But just months later, Jay reportedly ‘devastated’ Kirstin by calling off the engagement. Fortunately,they reconciled in October 2011 and welcomed their first child together, son Camden, in August 2012 before finally making it to the altar the following year.”
Although the couple has experienced their share of difficulty, Kristin shares that Jay is fully supportive of her and the book, regardless of the personal details she scribes about their “imperfect” marriage.
“I didn’t have to ask his approval [to write about him]. I wrote everything, and then he read it before I turned it in. But he’s very respectful of the fact that this is my book and I was gonna say what I wanted to say. He’s cool with everything. He was really supportive and happy with everything.”
In addition to her hubby being supportive of her own endeavors, Kristin also expresses how lucky she is to have a husband who is so good with their children.
“I’m very lucky because Jay is home all day now and he helps out a lot. He’ll take the boys and play basketball with them or do whatever with them if [our baby daughter] Saylor’s taking a nap, and he’ll let me just kind of chill out for a while. He’s made dinner. He literally does it all. He takes Camden to school and picks him up so that I can go workout. I’m very lucky to be able to have him around for half of the year like this,” she continues. Then obviously the flip side of that is that half the year, he’s not around very much. But I know that a lot of moms can’t say that their husbands are able to help out as much, and so for that, I’m extremely grateful.”
About how she believes fans and readers will respond to her memoir, Kristin is hopeful and shares that she believes people will be pleased and surprised by her willingness to be open about her life that is not the fairy tale onlookers may perceive it to be.
Unfortunately, this year has begun with tragedy for Cavallari, after the star lost her brother, as The Mirror relays. However, the reality star, fashion designer and now-author, seems to be handling the tragedy and her new path like a pro along with her adorable family and supportive husband.
