The Deadpool 2 spoilers are already flying, with rumors that the sequel to the already-popular superhero movie will introduce some popular new characters and could have its own unique place in the X-Men universe.
The foul-mouthed mercenary is already a huge hit with critics and early viewers, who pushed Deadpool to $12.7 million box office haul on Thursday alone, with the full weekend total expected to top $60 million. Amid that came news that the Deadpool sequel was already in the works, with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning.
As the Hollywood Reporter noted, Deadpool 2 isn’t expected to be much of a departure from the first one, at least not creatively.
“Reese, Wernick and [director Tim Miller], as well as star Ryan Reynolds, have fought an uphill battle within the studio system to get the movie made, forging themselves into a compact unit,” the report noted. “Wernick and Reese, who also acted as executive producers on the movie, remained on board throughout the development and production, a rarity in a system that interchanges scribes at high rates.”
The after-credits scene in Deadpool has already revealed one of the biggest spoilers for Deadpool 2, revealing that the popular villain Cable will be included. Many believed during production that Cable would be the centerpiece of this movie, but it turns out that the filmmakers were saving him for Deadpool 2.

The Independent shares some details on the scene tucked at the very end of the Deadpool credits.
“The first sequence brilliantly plays off one of the most iconic post-credits scenes of all time, the old ‘go home’ bit from Ferris Bueller’s Day off. Yes, bathrobe included. There’s an addendum in the theatrical release, however, which sees Mr. Pool continue with a highly desirable morsel of gossip for the now-confirmed sequel (via CinemaBlend); ‘Oh! I can tell you one thing, and it’s a bit of a secret. The sequel? We’re gonna have Cable. Amazing character. Bionic arm, time travel!’
“‘We have no idea who we’re going to cast yet, but it could be anyone. Just need a big guy with a flat top. Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, Kiera Knightley? She’s got range – who knows? Big secret, shhh. Oh, and don’t leave your garbage all lying around. It’s a total dick move. Go! Chica-chica!'”
For those not as familiar with the X-Men universe, cable is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey clone Madelyne Pryor, using time travel to gain knowledge of future events and use it against his enemy.
There may be other Deadpool 2 spoilers already revealed. As Den of Geek pointed out, Deadpool lives in what seems to be an X-Men universe unto itself, so characters can be included in the sequel without ruining continuity in the other, more canonical parts of the series.
“In fact, you could easily argue that Deadpool is taking place on its own island of continuity,” the report noted. “The only major thing that connects it to the other X-Men movies is the appearance of Xavier’s school. Even the version of Colossus that appears doesn’t resemble the one seen in the previous X-Men movies in any way.”

But even if the continuity is a bit off, Deadpool the character has now been introduced and could show up in other X-Men movies, the report added. That could leave a lot of opportunities, with a slew of new X-Men movies on the horizon including X-Men: Apocalypse this May, Gambit and Wolverine in 2017, and an unnamed X-Men movie set to come out in 2018.
Fans who want to find out if the Deadpool 2 spoilers come true will have a while to wait, however. The movie just got the studio greenlight and is in early production phases, putting its release still several years away.
