‘Arrow’ Star Katrina Law Discusses Nyssa’s Future, And Deathstroke Possible Return Answered

Arrow Season 1 brought in a League of Assassins trained villain, Arrow Season 3 brought Ra’s Al Ghul and the entire League of Assassins, and then there was Nyssa Al Ghul. Ra’s Al Ghul was finally defeated in the Arrow Season 3 finale, but after Malcolm Merlyn took over, it was clear that his ascendancy wouldn’t go unchallenged. Though the Green Arrow was busy with all manner of new villains like Damien Darhk, Malcolm was helping Thea Queen with her blood lust, but Nyssa Al Ghul has been silently plotting revenge. According to ComicBook.com, Katrina Law explained that there was more than brooding going on while Nyssa Al Ghul was out of the picture lately.

“I think so much planning has gone on. While stuck in the dungeons, Nyssa has managed to form an army in secret to follower her that Merlyn is not aware of. There’s been a lot of planning and underground renegade shenanigans going on. The fact that she knew she would have to go to Oliver and hold his sister’s life in the balance, and even to do that she would have to do the impossible and get the lotus — to convince Tatsu that she has to get the Lotus. That’s a lot of planning.”

Katrina Law’s Nyssa Al Ghul has reconstituted, planned, plotted, stewed in anger for so long, that one wonders if anything more has come from her anger and hatred of Malcolm Merlyn. More than just simply plotting his demise, of course. Law feels that it has made her focus on her identity that has been stripped away in the past Arrow season, between the deaths of Ra’s Al Ghul and Sara Lance.

“I think she knew from the time she comprehended that she was going to be the next Ra’s. Everything was in preparation for that. I think the last three years have taken away her sense of identity, because Sara came in and introduced her to a world where there is love and compassion and sympathy. It started to change her pop a little bit and eventually meeting Team Arrow and meeting Laurel, having her father take away the title and all of these different things, have stripped away everything Nyssa has known. So over the course of the last several months, she’s been fighting to get her life back on track. Becoming Ra’s and reclaiming what’s rightfully hers has been her number one focus. I think it’s given her focus, but I think it’s always been her goal. I think she’s going ‘Oh, I got sidetracked by Sara and by Team Arrow, but now I’m back on track.’ “

Arrow‘s latest Season 4 episode showed Nyssa Al Ghul choose a different path, as she disbanded the League of Assassins. Where Katrina Law and Nyssa go from here is anybody’s guess. Arrow‘s Season 2 villain, Deathstroke, has a slightly more certain future when compared to where the Inquisitr last reported his status to be. Stephen Amell wanted to see his adversary return, Deathstroke actor Manu Bennett agreed, but sadly separate comic book universes and other TV show commitments ruin everything.

According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Deathstroke is not returning to Arrow for the foreseeable future.

“The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.”

As of right now, Arrow, Deathstroke, and DC Comics fans are completely unaware of any projects like this in the current movie list that carries on until 2020. However, it is likely that Deathstroke is a surprise secondary character for one of the upcoming DC Comics films.
