The famous plastic surgeon to the stars has also gained notoriety as one of the most popular Snapchat users, with as many as 600,000 visitors per day heading to his account to check out the pictures and videos shared. As one of the three most popular Snapchat users on the platform, Dr. Miami has been nominated for “Snapchatter of the Year” in the upcoming internet honors, the 8th Annual Shorty Awards. A recent press release from Nati Celebrity Services announced Dr. Miami as one of the contenders in the 8th Annual Shorty Awards. Dr. Saulzhauer, better known as Dr. Miami, start to release nearly-live versions of his plastic surgeries via Snapchat, and it didn’t take long before social media users caught wind of what Dr. Miami was doing. The Snapchat account for the doctor went viral, making him one of the three most visited Snapchatters on the internet.
The Shorty Awards are growing in popularity as they head into year eight. Last year, the social media awards show attracted presenters including Wyclef Jean, Bill Nye, and Bella Thorne. The winners of the Shorty Awards are determined based on a system of user voting, so if you want to see Dr. Miami win the coveted Snapchatter of the Year award, fans need to get online and vote here. Otherwise, Kylie Jenner, DJ Khaled, or one of the few other Snapchatters in the running might pull out a win over the ever popular Dr. Miami. The deadline to vote for your favorite social media influencers is February 18, so it is very important to get those votes in very soon to help choose the best of the internet for the 8th Annual Shorty Awards.
Dr. Miami recently made waves when photos of some of his Teen Mom handiwork was made available via Snapchat. Just a few weeks back, the plastic surgeon held a “Super BBL Sunday,” where he operated on Teen Mom stars Briana DeJesus, Brittany DeJesus, and Kailyn Lowry. TMZ reported on the Brazilian butt lift Dr. Miami performed for Kailyn Lowry, and she’s giving a lot of video girls a run for their money with her newest assets. The transformation for the reality star is so huge that many other girls are wanting to have butt lifts too.
Of course, Dr. Miami seeks permission from his clients before showing the nearly-live cosmetic surgeries on social media. To further protect his clients, the famous doctor covers any x-rated parts and sometimes even identifying facial features with heart, diamond, and smiley face icons depending on the privacy wishes of the client. For those looking for a few cosmetic touch ups they can really be proud of without putting their business on Snapchat can see Dr. Miami as well. Although it’s not nearly as fun to keep a good tune-up a secret. Some of the before-and-after pictures of Dr. Miami’s work will just blow you away.
Dr. Miami spoke to Vice last year about his decision to make popular cosmetic procedures available for viewing via social media.
He said, “This wouldn’t work for me if I was just opening up my practice. It just wouldn’t. But, of course, it’s had an effect on the business.”
In addition to Snapchat, Dr. Miami also shares much of his work on Vine and Instagram. Dr. Miami is popular because he is relatable and he even admitted that he really enjoys using social media to showcase some of his best work.
“Social media allows me to express my creativity, to reach out to patients, to connect to them on a human level, and not so much the buttoned-up, white-coat, I’m the doctor sort of thing,” Dr. Miami said of his reasoning behind using social media to post pictures and videos of the elective procedures.
