WWE Teasing John Cena Vs. AJ Styles

Former TNA and IWGP Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles has been on the WWE roster for less than a month, but he’s already become one of the most popular wrestlers the company has. Before he was brought in, there was some concern within the company that the WWE fans wouldn’t be familiar with Styles, but it’s clear that they are, and that was proven when his T-shirt on WWEShop.com sold out immediately after his Royal Rumble appearance.

Right now, Styles is in a feud with Chris Jericho, which may end up lasting until WrestleMania 32. One thing is for sure, Jericho and Styles haven’t seen the last of each other, as Jericho ended up defeating Styles on Thursday’s SmackDown, which will likely setup a third match between the two at some point.

Of course, the Styles vs. Jericho feud may end up coming to an end at this month’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, which would mean that Styles would be facing someone else at AT&T Stadium.

Many are wondering what’ll be next for Styles after he’s done feuding with Jericho, and while there’s no clear answer, WWE‘s website is teasing that John Cena, whenever he returns from injury, will be the next one to step inside the ring with “The Phenomenal One.”

Back when the AJ Styles to WWE rumors first started, John Cena fed the rumor mill by posting a photo of Styles on his Instagram page. Cena didn’t write a caption for the photo, or comment on it later. But, at the time, this confirmed that AJ Styles would be heading to WWE.

John Cena is currently out of action due to a shoulder injury, which was operated on early last month. As of this writing, there’s no official timetable for Cena’s return, but many within WWE are hoping that he’ll be able to return to action in time for WrestleMania 32 this coming April.

Before Cena was injured, he was in the middle of a feud with Alberto Del Rio, so there is a chance that WWE will restart that feud upon Cena’s return.

Just a couple of days before he appeared at the Royal Rumble, AJ Styles responded to John Cena’s Instagram post by posting a photo of Cena on his own Instagram, which led many to believe that the two of them were going to have a match with one another at some point.

The WWE website piece noted that it’s a tradition for a new face in WWE to take on John Cena, as guys like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ended up getting in the ring with the former fifteen-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion upon their main roster debuts.

The piece also said that it’s a guarantee that Cena and Styles will have a match with one another whenever Cena returns to the ring.

There were several other names that were mentioned as potential opponents for AJ Styles: Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Brock Lesnar were all listed as guys who may end up facing Styles in the future.

Of the five guys named (Cena, Lesnar, Rollins, Cesaro, and Balor), Styles has only wrestled one of them in the past, with that one being Seth Rollins, and several months ago, Rollins said that he would love to get in the ring with Styles in a WWE arena.

While the WWE article did name five potential opponents for AJ Styles, they also strongly suggested that Styles would end up getting in the ring with John Cena before he got in the ring with any of the other four men. So, could we see Styles vs. Cena at WrestleMania 32? It’s certainly a possibility if Cena can recover from injury in time for the event, which isn’t out of the question.
