How ‘Far Cry Primal’ Does The Stone Age [Video]

Ubisoft released a new Far Cry Primalvideo Tuesday to give a primer on what the series is up to going to the Stone Age. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players will want to tune into see some of the prehistoric weapons and tools that will be at their disposal to help Takkar rebuild his tribe in the open-world sandbox provided.

Far Cry Primal’s 10,000 BCE setting and the ability to tame animals is the primary hook for gamers. It’s a big jump away from the series traditional mash-up of guns, vehicles, and crazy characters in an open-world setting. That’s why Ubisoft put the following video together to help explain the world plus the weapons and tools players will have at their disposal.

Takkar will wield various clubs, spears, and bows as the foundation of his armory to cut through Stone Age foes. Knives, slingshots, traps, and other equipment will be available too.

These weapons can be made even deadlier by discovering rare materials to craft even stronger and more fearsome weapons. One example shown in the video was a double bow and arrow that can shoot two enemies at once. Players will also have the ability to light spears and arrows on fire. This gives players the opportunity to light enemies and even animals on fire.

There are various special weapons at Takkar’s disposal in Far Cry Primal as well. A “Berserker Bomb” will send enemies attacking one another. Meanwhile, a “Bee Bomb” lobbed at an enemy can create a distraction, enabling the player to bring his opponent down easily.

And then there is, of course, the various animals that can be tamed and used in Far Cry Primal. As previously covered, Takkar can control animals such as wolves, sabretooths, and other large cats, bears, badgers, and mammoths. Each serves a unique role in the arsenal. The bear, for example, acts as the tank to cause havoc within enemy ranks while large cats can stealthily sneak up on enemies for the kill. Larger animals can also be ridden.

Far Cry Primal players won’t just be going around hunting or attacking the two enemy tribes in the game. Takkar also needs to rescue his fellow villagers from the Wenja tribe and gather resources to build a shelter. New specialists added to the tribe can unlock new techniques to use in combat, while a larger population will bring a spiritual leader to help guide Takkar on his path.

Here is the description of the game and its key features from the new trailer.
