Liam Neeson Dating ‘Incredibly Famous Woman,’ Talks Love, Death, And Getting Older

Liam Neeson is reportedly enjoying a new romance after tragically losing his wife eight years ago in a skiing accident. The Taken star has shared that he is now romantically involved with an “incredibly famous woman” but is not saying any more than that, as he wishes to keep the relationship private while he can, mainly for the sake of his new love.

Neeson spoke with the Irish Independent about the mystery woman.

“I’d embarrass her if I said her name, she’s incredibly famous,’ he said, adding that he’s trying to figure out what to get her for Valentine’s Day. ‘I’ll have to do my best for her. It’s amazing how far a simple bunch of freshly picked flowers will go in a lady’s life, I find.'”

The actor, however, made it clear that he will be sending out Valentines to a number of different people who are close to him.

“I’ll send out a few bunches of flowers to various people and I usually just say ‘from an Irish admirer.'”

Neeson lost his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, eight years ago while she was enjoying a ski trip to Quebec, Canada. Richardson fell and hit her head. Seeing as she was not wearing a helmet, the impact was great enough that she died from the impact. Liam relays how he’s coping with her passing.

“[Her death] is still a touchy subject. Of course the grief is still there. You do your best.”

Although Neeson has been quite private about his love life, the star was actually involved in a two-year relationship with Freya St. Johnston, a publicist from the UK. The romance ended in 2012 when Liam decided he would like to be more present in his children’s lives in New York. A source shared with the Daily Mail about additional reasons that led to the couple splitting and going their separate ways.

“He told her he wanted to spend more time in New York and that he really wants to make more time for his children. Freya wants something more serious, but Liam feels it is too soon. His wife only died three years ago, he wants to take things slow.”

Rumors surfaced last year that Liam was in a bad place, seeing as he had lost 20 pounds, which caused him to look gaunt and unwell, as Wonderwall shared. The star was actually preparing for a role in the film Science, directed by Martin Scorsese. Neeson was expected to drop weight for the film.

The film is based on the story of two Portuguese priests who go on an adventure to Japan to preach about Christianity. Liam star’s as Father Cristóvão Ferreira.

Neeson spoke about the expectations Scorsese had for his character and reasons for his weight loss.

“Martin requires this level of dedication and I think it pays off. Martin wanted us all to look a bit more gaunt, which [costars] Adam [Diver] and Andrew [Garfield] did as well. I know Adam went to the extreme. He’s an ex-marine and when he’s given an order, he follows it through. He was like something out of Auschwitz.”

Although Neeson was a tad thin for the film, he admits to the Irish independent that he currently feels fitter than ever and intends to be on this planet doing what he loves for as long as he can.

“Before I pass the mirror I feel 43. When I actually look in it I think ‘no, definitely 63’, especially if I haven’t been to the gym that day. I think I’m a bit more philosophical about all that stuff than I was when I moved out to Hollywood in 1987. I’m fitter than I’ve ever been in my life so that has to count for something. I want to stay on this planet for a long time to come.”
