WWE News: ‘Monday Night Raw’ Preview — Tension Builds For Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose

During the main event of last week’s WWE SmackDown, viewers saw the first glimpse of tension between the company’s top two (healthy) faces, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. With less than two weeks left before the “brothers in arms” join Brock Lesnar in a Triple Threat Match at WWE Fastlane, The Authority is likely to do everything in their power to turn the former Shield members against one another.

On tonight’s episode of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar returns to Vince’s flagship program, where he was last seen standing over Dean Ambrose after delivering a signature F5. While The Wyatt Family have been focusing on Ryback lately, The Beast Incarnate has yet to rectify the fact that Bray orchestrated Brock’s elimination from the Royal Rumble Match after Lesnar had already eliminated Braun, Luke and Erick on his own.

At the same time, the League of Nations have been relentless when it comes to the Lunatic Fringe and the Big Dog. As everyone anticipates who will face Triple H at WrestleMania 32 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, all three contenders will be trying to build momentum towards Fastlane on tonight’s Raw.

According to WWE.com’s official Monday Night Raw preview page, below are five narratives from the WWE Universe that will likely be addressed on the USA Network tonight.

Loony and the Beast

Dean Ambrose proved on last week’s Raw that he isn’t intimidated by Brock Lesnar. Dean interrupted a Lesnar/Heyman promo by getting right in Brock’s face. Then, after teaming up with Roman Reigns to defeat The New Day in the night’s main event, Lesnar made sure that Ambrose didn’t leave Raw with the impression that you can talk to the Beast like that without any consequences. While The New Day took care of Reigns, Lesnar came to the ring and laid out Ambrose with the F5.

With The Authority, the League of Nations and Brock Lesnar all hoping that neither man goes on to the main event of WrestleMania, will the friendship between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose survive until Fastlane?

What’s Y2J’s endgame?

Over the last few years, Chris Jericho has played an important part in getting newer talent over to the WWE Universe. When you’ve got someone with the in-ring capability and worldwide training of A.J. Styles, someone like Y2J is the perfect opponent for The Phenomenal One to work his first WWE program with.

On last week’s SmackDown, Jericho challenged Styles to a rematch to take place on this week’s SmackDown. Styles accepted the challenge. With this go down as a feud of mutual respect, or will the heel side of Jericho emerge to try to tear Styles down? Their interaction on Raw tonight should be a good indicator.

B.A.D. Blood

According to a report from PWMania, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch may team up to face Naomi and Tamina on tonight’s Raw. After making a proclamation of independence from Team B.A.D., Banks was lucky to have Lynch by her side when Tamina and Naomi attacked.

While Charlotte appears to be working towards a match with Brie Bella at WWE Fastlane, both Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch will be looking to take the WWE Divas Championship from Ric Flair’s daughter. Charlotte vs. Sasha vs. Becky seems probable for Mania in Dallas.

Will The Wyatt Family cut The Big Guy down to size?

This looks like another temporary feud that WWE is building en route to some big match-ups at WrestleMania. There are rumors of Braun Strowman vs. Undertaker and Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Ryback doesn’t seem necessary for either of those programs.

A lot can happen between now and WrestleMania. While Ryback may end up facing one (or some) of The Wyatt Family at Fastlane, the WWE Universe should not expect the feud to last much longer than that.

Golden opportunity

For a program involving two guys who are no longer in their prime and spend most of their time on Main Event and Superstars, WWE is giving the potential team of Goldust and R-Truth a lot of attention. Perhaps that is one way that WWE rewards the veterans who are willing to put over the younger talent.

Regardless of why WWE is giving these two so much attention, it’s hard to imagine that much will come of it. There is a lot of comedic potential between those two, but even if they do end up teaming together, is there any reason to take them seriously as part of the WWE tag team division?

WWE Monday Night Raw airs live on the USA Network at 8/7c. Replays of WWE Raw aren’t made available on the WWE Network until several weeks after the original air date. However, a 90-minute version of Monday Night Raw is available to stream on-demand the following day with a Hulu Plus subscription.
