Amy Schumer Gets Bodyguard Protection From Ronda Rousey

Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen have been showing off their chemistry together in a series of brief clips from their Bud Light commercials, but a new ad brings in an extra, unexpected element: the protection of UFC star Ronda Rousey.

The comedic duo represent the “Bud Light Party,” and in the newest clip they climb out of a limo onto a special blue carpet, surrounded by press members hounding them with questions. Ronda plays the muscle, standing by in case either of them need her, although it’s Rogen who gets put in a headlock. Since the beer company usually has a few ads that air during the Super Bowl, it’s likely we’ll get to see more of the stars together.

Rousey reportedly filmed the commercial soon after her devastating loss to Holly Holm last year, but she looks great and in the mood to take down anyone who might get in her way. The loss–her first–dealt a shockwave to the UFC community after Holm won with a kick to the head that sent Rousey to the hospital with several loose teeth. In fact, Ronda said in December that she wasn’t sure when she would be able to return to the cage because it was going to take months to recover physically.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey said.

Amy Schumer, meanwhile, has been busy with a full schedule that includes filming her own series for Comedy Central and promoting her film projects, including the hit Trainwreck. The funny lady was recently revealed to have been voted “Class Comedian” in her Long Island high school, which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one who is familiar with her career. Schumer’s friend, Stephen Cannone, told the New York Post that the two of them would play off one another in class to crack each other up.

“She’s really smart so she would kind of play with the teachers without them even realizing it and then we would work off each other making jokes,” Cannone said. “I can’t see fame ever getting to her. She’s always going to be who she is.”

Schumer said in an interview with GQ last year that she “acted out” when she was a teenager and referenced a story she tells in her stand-up routine about getting intimate with a cab driver that made people uncomfortable the first time she told it. But for Schumer, being herself trumps staying safe.

“I’m putting it out there because it makes me feel better, it makes other people feel better. The first time I ever said it was on the radio, but the way I talk about it in my stand-up special years ago, it’s a story I told at a baby shower. Which I did. Well, it was a bachelorette party. I didn’t like how fake those women were—I just can’t stand that. That pretend existence. It bugs me. The girl whose party it was was mad at me, and the other women were really uncomfortable. Like, no one laughed. It’s fun to just keep being yourself when the room’s demanding otherwise. I’m putting my dirty laundry out there, and I don’t want to be around people who pretend they don’t have any,” Amy said.

Fame may not have changed Schumer, but it sure has changed who she hangs out with these days. The star’s Instagram account is chock-full of celebrities, including Amber Rose and best friend Jennifer Lawrence.

Schumer also Instagrammed a moment between herself and Rousey, presumably while they were filming the commerical for Bud Light.
