‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival: Matt Czuchry To Reprise Role As Logan Huntzberger

The Gilmore Girls revival has already been confirmed by Netflix with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel set to return as the main characters. Now, it has been revealed that Matt Czuchry, the Good Wife star who played Rory’s boyfriend from Seasons 5 to 7, will also be heading back to Stars Hollow to reprise his role as Logan Huntzberger.

According to TV Guide, Czuchry signed on for the four-part miniseries earlier this week. If you will recall, the last time we saw Logan, he was preparing to head to California after Rory turned down his marriage proposal.

Last year, the Gilmore Girlscast reunited at the ATX Television Festival. Czuchry told E! News at the time that he prepared for the reunion by re-watching the episodes he appeared in.

“I’ve already started the process of reviewing the episodes Logan was a part of and it’s been really cool,” Matt said at the time. “One of the things that stands out is Amy Sherman-Palladino just created a great character there. That show was incredibly well-written, and of course, the wit and the fast-pace that made Gilmore Girls so unique—it was fun to revisit that.”

Many Gilmore Girls fans were shocked and heartbroken when Rory turned Logan’s proposal down, but Czuchry said he thinks Rory made the right decision based on her character.

“I have thought about that of course over a period of time and a lot of me thinks Rory probably made the right decision in terms of saying no,” Czuchry said. “Not just because of it being Logan, but just at that time in her life.”

“I also think that show was about two strong women who had been on their own and make their way on their own, so I felt like that was the heart of the show,” Matt continued. “Regardless if it had been Logan, Dean or Jess who asked her at the end, I think she gave the proper answer: ‘No.’ It’s not a reflection on Logan, but more of a reflection on the show, the heart of the show in terms of Rory being on her own and a strong woman on her own. I kind of like that answer.”

Speaking of Dean and Jess, who were Rory’s high school loves, the show’s creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said she hopes to get as many of Rory’s men to return to the show as possible.

“Our plan is to get as many of [Rory’s] lovely men back as possible,” she said, but added that the deals were still being finalizd. “We’re still dealing with who’s going to be in it. We definitely want to see them. And we have storylines planned. I just need someone to tell me they’re going to show up.”

Since Czuchry’s stint on Gilmore Girls, the 38-year-old actor has gone on to play Chris Kennedy on the NBC drama Friday Night Lights, and he currently plays the character Cary Agos on the CBS series The Good Wife, which airs on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET.
