Tim Tebow Has The ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ In ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Versus Nina Dobrev [Video]

Tim Tebow showed off his dancing and lip syncing skills on the latest episode of Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle. Tebow, a former NFL quarterback and current college football analyst for ESPN’s SEC Network, competed against former Degrassi actress Nina Dobrev, and according to Fox Sports, Tim took home the championship belt.

Nina Dobrev came out strong with a performance of OMI’s “Cheerleader,” wearing a Florida Gator uniform donning Tim Tebow’s number. Tebow won the Heisman trophy as the quarterback for the Florida Gators. Dobrev also took the opportunity to score a few points with the audience by grinding up on the notoriously virgin Tebow during her rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On,” but Nina’s moves weren’t enough to sway the audience or Tim.

Tim Tebow hit back with a performance of his own, kicking and punching his way to Survivor’s Rocky anthem “The Eye of The Tiger.” Perhaps the audience gave Tim the edge in his victory because he showed his commitment to portraying the character by drinking raw eggs. But according to Yahoo TV, it was Tebow’s rendition of Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” that was enough to swoon the audience into cheering him onto victory.

Tim Tebow was one of the most highly anticipated college players to enter the 2010 NFL Draft. Taken in the first round as the 25th pick, many anticipated Tebow’s college success would transfer well into a professional football career. Instead, Tebow found himself bouncing around from team to team shortly after taking the Denver Broncos to the playoffs in the 2011 season. After a crushing loss to the Patriots in the second round of the playoffs, Tim found himself wearing a New York Jets jersey as the Broncos acquired Peyton Manning. Tebow, a mobile quarterback who struggled with consistent throwing, was let go by the Jets in April of 2013.

Since leaving the Jets, Tebow has attempted two NFL comebacks. In the offseason of 2013, Tebow was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad but failed to make the final 53-man roster and was subsequently cut. In 2015, Tim who had reportedly been working with veteran baseball pitching coach Tom House to learn better biomechanics in throwing, was given a new NFL opportunity by controversial Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. Tebow appeared to perform well enough to make the cut as the third string quarterback in the preseason games; however, fans were shocked when Tim rode off into the sunset without a contract.

Despite continually facing adversity in his attempts to play in the NFL, in a recent visit to Ellen, Tim Tebow said he had hopes of returning to the gridiron as a quarterback someday. “I love playing the game so much. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life,” Tebow told an enamored DeGeneres. This was similar to what Tim told CBS Sports‘ Doug Gottlieb where Tebow also discussed that he was cheering for his former team, the Broncos, to take the Super Bowl Championship this weekend.

“So you feel like you’re not done? Like you would go to camp?” Gottlieb asked. “With the right opportunity, yeah,” Tebow replied after stating that he was enjoying his broadcasting career. With all of the deficits at the quarterback position in the NFL, perhaps Tim will get a fifth chance at running plays. Until then, Tim Tebow fans will just have to settle for his commentary and entertaining performances.
