Jill Duggar's Mission Trip Update: Derick Dillard Paints Her Toenails, Sparks Pregnancy Rumors

Jill Duggar Dillard promised her faithful fans a mission trip update a few days ago, and they finally got one. However, Jill's update consists of one photo, and it doesn't show Jill and Derick doing mission work in Central America — the single Instagram snapshot shows Derick painting his wife's toenails. Some of Jill Duggar's Instagram followers believe that the picture is proof that Jill is pregnant again, and, if this is the case, she might be putting her unborn baby at risk.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jill Duggar shared her first Instagram post in almost a month on February 1. The Jill & Jessa: Counting On star shared a photo of baby Israel and promised that she and Derick Dillard would be updating their fans on their mission trip soon, but so far the couple hasn't posted an update on their blog. Instead, Jill simply shared another picture that does nothing to address fans' concerns about her family.

As SheKnows reports, Jill is getting "slammed" by some critics who think that she and Derick need to leave Central America ASAP — the mosquito-borne Zika virus is rapidly spreading in Latin American countries, and it has been linked to some pretty horrific birth defects. Pregnant women who contract the virus risk giving birth to babies that suffer from abnormally small heads and brain damage.

Because so many of Jill Duggar's fans have been buzzing about the Zika virus and flooding her Instagram with comments about it, they're likely hoping that Jill will share her thoughts about the illness and whether it will have any effect on her plan to get pregnant while she's in the mission field. However, right now Duggar fans will have to settle for dissecting the photo below that shows Derick Dillard painting Jill Duggar's toenails.

"My hubby painted my nails yesterday! He is the sweetest! @derickdillard I ❤ you!" Jill captioned the February 5 picture.

Some of Jill's Instagram followers pointed out that the photo above was likely taken in Central America because Derick and Israel are both wearing shorts. Others were excited to see Israel walking in the background, and a few fans speculated that the nail painting picture is evidence that Jill is already pregnant with her second child. Very few of these fans seemed concerned about the Zika virus.

"Last time he did that wasn't it at Jessa's wedding when she was pregnant? He's the sweetest," one fan wrote.

"Last time we saw him paint your nails you had a baby on way....by chance can there be another on the way? It would be so awesome," another commented.

According to the International Business Times, Jill asked Derick to paint her toenails right before Jessa Duggar's November 1, 2014 wedding. Jill was about four months pregnant at the time, and she revealed that she asked for Derick's help because her pregnant belly was already making it difficult for her to reach her toes. The moment was filmed for a 19 Kids and Counting wedding special, and Jessa commended Derick for doing a great job helping his wife get her toes prepped at the last minute.

People reports that Derick also proved that he has a talent for applying nail polish when he and Jill hosted a slumber party for her younger sisters in an episode of 19 Kids and Counting. Derick painted Josie Duggar's nails purple, and Jill said that he did a "really good" job applying the polish to her sister's tiny fingers. So perhaps Jill's Instagram photo shouldn't be seen as evidence that she's pregnant — instead, it could be viewed as proof that she started making Derick paint her nails all the time after he demonstrated his proficiency in lacquering fingers and toes.

Whenever the Duggars go on short-term mission trips, they always make sure to bring plenty of nail polish with them. This is because a lot of their mission "work" involves painting little girls' and women's fingernails. During their annual mission trip to El Salvador, members of the Duggar family also paint little kids' faces, play games with locals, perform skits, and hand out religious tracts and photos of themselves. The video below was taken during the Duggars' 2014 trip, and it shows Jinger painting a little girl's nails.

So far Jill Duggar hasn't revealed whether she's done any nail painting during her long-term mission trip or whether Derick is the only one wielding a tiny bottle and brush these days.
