Halle Berry Won’t Name Which Ex-Boyfriend Hit Her So Hard She Went Deaf In One Ear, But There Are Clues

Halle Berry won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her role in Monster’s Ball. She was the first woman of color to do so in the history of the Academy Awards, and so far, she is the only one. Deadline reports that Halle Berry recently attended the 2016 Makers Conference and spoke about her win and the Oscars diversity issue.

“Honestly, that win almost 15 years ago was iconic. It was important to me, but I had the knowing in the moment that it was bigger than me. I believed that in that moment, that when I said, ‘The door tonight has been opened,’ I believed that with every bone in my body, that this was going to incite change because this door, this barrier, had been broken. And to sit here almost 15 years later and knowing that another woman of color has not walked through that door, is heartbreaking. It’s heartbreaking, because I thought that moment was bigger than me. It’s heartbreaking to start to think maybe it wasn’t bigger than me. Maybe it wasn’t. And I so desperately felt like it was.”

Her very emotional acceptance speech the night she won her Oscar made it clear that she was truly honored to have won the Oscar, not just for her, but for all women of color who came before her and who stood with her.

“This moment is so much bigger than me. This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It’s for the women that stand beside me — Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, Vivica Fox. And it’s for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened.”

Halle Berry has gone on to have a stunning career that includes television as well as movies. Now, Deadline reports that after parting ways with her former manager, Vincent Cirrincione, last year, she has signed on with Management 360.

But what about Halle Berry’s personal life? According to Inside Edition, it appears her ex-husband David Justice is begging Berry to open up and tell the truth about rumors that he hit her when they were married. It’s been more than 20 years since Halle Berry divorced Justice, but Berry once said that one of her ex-boyfriends hit her so hard that she went deaf in one of her ears.

Justice maintains that ever since she said that, people have thought she was referring to him, even though she never gave a name. Justice just wants Berry to say it wasn’t him.

“If it was me, then say it. Say it. But she can’t say it because she knows it wasn’t. So she’d rather not say it and just let you go ahead and believe it. It would’ve been cool if you had come out a long time ago and let people know it wasn’t me. That would’ve been cool. But you didn’t do it.”

Despite this report, People reported last November when Halle Berry divorced husband Olivier Martinez, Justice took to Twitter to thank Berry for setting the record straight, that it wasn’t him who had hit her.

“I just want to thank Halle for finally squashing all of the rumors in the past, that I had physically abused her, causing the hearing loss.”

It sounds like the record had been set straight between Halle Berry and Justice last fall, but for some reason, Justice has opened the can of worms again. Maybe this time, Halle Berry will respond to his message personally and end this rumor once and for all.
