Ariel Winter’s Confidence And Happiness Skyrockets Following Breast Reduction Surgery, Grateful To No Longer Be Known For Her ‘Crazy Cleavage’

Ariel Winter has had a challenging time with body image, and she’s still only 18. She attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards last weekend and looked absolutely stunning in a black strapless gown. UpWorthy reports that this dress did not hide the scars from her breast reduction surgery, and Ariel Winter was fine with that.

Ariel Winter rocked the red carpet and she also rocked Twitter when she responded to tweets about her attire.

Ariel Winter recently spoke with People about her breast reduction surgery. She suffered in silence for many years until she finally did something about it.

“Being a 5-ft.-tall girl and having extremely large breasts is really ostracizing and excruciatingly painful. But I didn’t really express how I felt about that.”

Ariel Winter said she had spent years reading online comments about her and her wardrobe.

“I’d just be wearing something anyone else could wear, but I’d read comments saying, ‘She dresses inappropriately.'”

Speaking about the surgery, Ariel Winter says it’s only cosmetic.

“I think it will be the only [cosmetic surgery] I’ll have done, but I’m extremely happy with the decision I made. It’s important to talk about it because there are young girls suffering like I did, but there shouldn’t be a stigma about it.”

Last year, Ariel Winter spoke with Glamour about the decision to have breast reduction surgery. She said it was incredibly difficult physically trying to be on the set of Modern Family for hours.

“It was so painful. I had a lot of back problems. I really couldn’t stand up straight for a long period of time. It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain. My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine. I had been discussing my chest with doctors for many years, but when I finally said, ‘I’m thinking of doing this,’ he said, ‘Your back is going to thank you so much.'”

But what was worse is that it seemed her breasts were all she was getting recognition for.

“That’s pretty much all I was known for and that upset me. It made me feel really uncomfortable because as women in the industry, we are totally over sexualized and treated like objects. Every article that has to do with me on a red carpet always had to do with ‘Ariel Winter’s Crazy Cleavage!’ Or ‘Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs At An Event!’ That’s all people would recognize me by, not, ‘Oh, she does great work on Modern Family.'”

Now that she feels so much better with her body, Ariel Winter can dress how she wants. People reports that she did just that when she went out on a date on Sunday with her boyfriend, Laurent Claude Gaudette. And a couple of weeks ago, the couple celebrated Winter’s birthday.

According to People, the cast and crew of Modern Family also helped Ariel Winter celebrate her birthday in style.
