Dancing With the Stars spoilers and rumors for Season 22 are already starting to swirl, even though the cast will not be announced for a bit yet. The spring 2016 season premieres on March 21, and that means the celebrities and pros should start connecting for practice fairly soon. There is news out regarding one supposedly confirmed DWTS Season 22 contestant, and some rumors are building about other possibilities. Who is said to be showing up to dance this spring?
After years of rumors, Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin has reportedly signed on to do Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars this spring, according to Us Weekly. Fans have been angling to see her dance for several seasons now, and seeing her finally agree to dance not too long after co-star Candace Cameron-Bure tackled DWTS with partner Mark Ballas would not come as a big surprise, especially with the new show set to debut soon.
However, Sweetin seems to be trying to brush off the rumors. While she is not exactly saying that she is not doing the show, she tweeted that she is a fan and that the rumors are swirling perhaps because Fuller House had both Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy on the show. Is she just trying to cover now that the news is out or is Jodie truly not participating in Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars?
Unfortunately, it seems that Fuller House co-stars Lori Loughlin and John Stamos have been offered the opportunity as well, and both reportedly turned it down. As PureDWTS notes, there have been a few posts on social media that raise suspicion about other potential Season 22 Dancing With the Stars contestants.
Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning started some buzz with a recent DWTS-related tweet, and YouTube star Trisha Paytas has some fans buzzing about a possible spot on Season 22 after an Instagram post, as well. While some would say that Trisha seems like a stretch, the show is definitely headed in that type of direction after the successful casting of other social media stars such as Bethany Mota and Hayes Grier in recent seasons. However, Trisha has a somewhat juicy past that may be a bit much for the family-oriented ABC show.
There are almost always some professional athletes mixed into each season of Dancing With the Stars, so viewers should not be surprised to hear that some social media posts point toward a football player or two being rumored. Carolina Panthers star Mike Tolbert raised some eyebrows with a tweet, though DWTS fans may not want to count on this possibility too much at this point. Another athlete garnering some buzz is Olympic gymnast Dominique Moceanu.
Moceanu’s tweet about doing Dancing With the Stars may be more her campaigning for a spot than her being recruited. That said, it is common to have Olympians participate, especially gymnasts, so DWTS fans may want to keep an eye on this possibility.
Some would say that this possible contestant could sync in an interesting way to a recent tweet by pro Sasha Farber. While it is not known the context of Sasha’s tweet, he did post that something was official and he was excited and happy. Could he possibly be signed on as a pro for Season 22 to partner with someone like Dominique?
Dancing With the Stars fans love Sasha and would be thrilled to see him snag a spot as a regular pro, but his height typically makes that a challenge. He was partnered with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in Season 17, and some think he would be a great fit for Moceanu if she were to sign up for the show in this DWTS 2016 spring season.
As for other casting possibilities, there is certainly a good chance that Bachelor star Ben Higgins will get an offer, as well. He has previously said he is open to the idea, and as HNGN notes, it has become pretty common for the male leads to get an offer. Chris Soules, Sean Lowe, and Jake Pavelka also threw on their dance shoes after their seasons, as did female contestants Melissa Rycroft and Trista Sutter in earlier years.
Apparently, there have also been some rumors that Bindi Irwin’s younger brother, Robert, is being eyed to do DWTS Season 22, but he is pretty young and this one seems a stretch. Willow Shields was 14 when she recently partnered with Mark Ballas, and that made her the youngest ever contestant. While Robert said he thought it would be a lot of fun, Dancing With the Stars fans probably should not count on this one quite yet.
Plenty more Dancing With the Stars spoilers and rumors should be coming out in the next couple of weeks as the Season 22 cast is solidified. ABC did an unusual and rather confusing cast reveal for Season 21, spreading out the announcements across many media outlets and multiple days. DWTS fans will have to stay tuned to see when and how the new 2016 spring cast is revealed and find out who will be signing on to dance this time around.
