Taylor Swift To Create Mobile App With Kim Kardashian Developers
Taylor Swift has experienced one whirlwind of a year that has seen many successes in all areas of the songstress’ life. Swift dropped 1989, her most recent album, back in late 2014, and the hits have been pouring off of it one after the other ever since. Having a hot tour that’s selling out to massive audiences doesn’t hurt, and although in the past Taylor has been a known as the queen of heartbreak, she has found herself a fantastic man that she’s been dating for nearly a year now. Perhaps Swift’s next album will involve more love ballads as opposed to love-gone-bad anthems, as a change up due to her current long-term romance.
All this to say that Taylor has experienced a great year and has started 2016 off with a new intiative focused on the world of technology. Taylor is set to follow somewhat in the steps of Kim Kardashian by developing a mobile app, and intends to use the same developers that Kim did.
Forbes shares as to the new collaboration between Swift and Glu by quoting the company’s CEO, Niccolo de Masi.“We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience. Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”
Kardashian was responsible for the first collaboration with the mobile app developers and sparked a craze in celebrity game apps when she launched her Glu-developed game app, Hollywood. Interestingly enough, Katy Perry hopped on board late last year to offer up a similar game that had a bit of a Katy spin.
Glu also developed Katy’s app and although Swift is reportedly a rival to Perry, the mobile developers honed in on the Bad Blood singer, realizing there was certainly a market for both she and Perry. Forbes expands.“Next to no details have been given about the game other than its mere existence, but Glu’s past titles for Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry share a signature, cartoony animation style, and involve working and touring to earn money for clothes and other purchases. Naturally, the fastest way to buy things in these games is with real-world money, hence why they’ve been insanely profitable.”
It’s not wonder that the likes of Perry and Swift have followed suit after Kardashian has experienced such success with the new app endeavor. Kim’s Hollywood game experienced massive success on the app charts and skyrocketed to the most popular spot as soon as it was available. This in turn, as the publication notes, opened celebrities and the reps of the stars, to the fact ” that they might be able to achieve something similar. Kardashian reportedly negotiated a deal where she received a 45 [percent] cut of net profits for the game.”
It’s been left unknown as to how much Kim has made from the apps popularity, yet it’s guessed that her profit has been in the tens of millions. That being stated, it’s evident that the vantage point of celebs that have true star power and talent like Perry and Swift, there really is nothing to lose. If Kardashian can experience such success, the biggest female stars in the music industry will surely hit the jackpot, as well.
The CEO for Glu is adamant that Swift will experience success with her app, as Billboard communicates, and de Masi relays that they are “thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift, an award-winning singer, musician and songwriter, to Glu’s family.”
