National Ice Cream Day: Free Scoops At Six Flags, Dippin’ Dots, Carvel

It’s been a hot Summer. Thankfully, tomorrow is the perfect time to cool off and indulge in your favorite treat because Sunday, July 15th is National Ice Cream Day.

And yes, it’s a real holiday. In 1984, Ronald Reagan declared that July was National Ice Cream month and that the third Sunday in July was National Ice Cream Day. According to Reagan, you should celebrate tomorrow with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

OK, well, free ice cream sounds appropriate.

SIX FLAGS: MSNBC reports that Mars Chocolate North America will be offering visitors to Six Flags Amusement Parks free ice cream during a nationwide ice cream social. From 4 to 5 pm on Sunday, Mars will be handing out free ice cream treats.

Dippin’ Dots: The ice cream of the future is celebrating National Ice Cream Day a day early. On the eve of the summer holiday, Dippin’ Dots will be handing out free cups of its new Dippin’ Dots Clusterz. (You’ll need a coupon for your free cup.)

Baskin- Robbins: Baskin-Robbins will be giving away gift cards during National Ice Cream Day. To enter the sweepstakes, you have to follow their twitter account @BaskinRobbins and tweet your favorite ice cream flavor with the hashtag #BRIceCream. Baskin-Robbins will be giving away $260 in Baskin-Robbins gift cards to the winners.

Dan Wheeler, Baskin-Robbins’ U.S. vice president of brand and field marketing, said:

“National Ice Cream Month is a great time to celebrate the special place ice cream has in our lives and to enjoy your favorite flavor with friends and family. We’re excited to share some insights into America’s ice cream preferences from our survey, and to give one of our fans $260 in Baskin-Robbins gift cards through the Baskin-Robbins National Ice Cream Day Twitter Sweepstakes.”

Omni Hotels: If you’re staying at an Omni Hotel during President Reagan’s favorite holiday, you should take advantage of the hotel’s ice cream social. From 4-6 pm on Sunday, Omni Hotels will be hosting a free ice cream event.

Carvel – Carvel will be giving away free cones to children under 12.

Several smaller ice cream stores will also be hosting events on Sunday. Ye Olde Mill in Ohio, Amy’s Ice Creams in Austin, in Farrell’s in California will all be hosting events for National Ice Cream Day.
