‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Spoilers Season 2: Major Horror Actor Added, Shakes Up Plot

Fear the Walking Dead is only two short months away from premiering Season 2 of the massively popular spinoff series on AMC, and there have been some new developments that fans of The Walking Dead universe are simply going to love.

First of all, Fear the Walking Dead is going to be a big departure from the slow burn of Season 1. Fans were a little disappointed in the slow pace and structure of the series, given that they were so used to massively engaging storylines that have taken place on The Walking Dead. As originally stated in the beginning of the show, the series is going to be completely different than its predecessor.

When the producers said different, they certainly were not kidding. Fear the Walking Dead takes place during the genesis of the Walking Dead epidemic that turned the entire country, and presumably the world, into a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of “winner takes all” action. Survival was the name of the game after the onset of the zombie uprising.

But Fear the Walking Dead was a unique premise that the show’s producers wanted to bring to their fans. The Walking Dead universe is firmly rooted in the comic series created by Robert Kirkman, and they have done a really nice job explaining why the Walkers keep rising. The entire premise of the show that sets it apart from other zombie films is that everyone is infected. It does not take a zombie bite to turn someone into a Walker.

So now that Fear the Walking Dead has taken flight with a slow burn on Season 1, Season 2 is about to really open up the storylines and take the action directly into the water.

Comic creator and show producer Kirkman spoke with Entertainment Weekly and gave them some interesting views on what fans can expect in Season 2.

“There’s definitely going to be a lot of intense action and a lot of awesome boat stuff,” Kirkman told EW. “Despite the fact that zombies can’t walk on water and can’t swim, there will be plenty of zombies to be had.”

Some fans have taken to social media and theorized that since the characters are now sea bound, they are safe from the Walker hordes coming their way. But that could not be further from the truth, as Kirkman outlined. Of course, they are going to have to get creative with how they implement a storyline like that in Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead.

“Anybody who’s concerned about there being not enough zombies because they’re on the water – because I’ve seen some people concerned about that – shouldn’t have any worries there,” Kirkman said.

A lot of people have already heard about those comments, but new information about Season 2 reveals who they have added to the cast, as reported by Deadline.

If there are any Fear the Walking Dead fans out there that follow other horror genres, then last summer’s cult hit film It Follows should not sound unfamiliar to you. You might also remember that the fairly unknown actor named Daniel Zovatto also played a major role in the film.

Zovatto has officially been cast in a recurring role for Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, and he brings his own brand of horror acting. What began as a long shot for the actor in It Follows, the film has turned out some critical and box-office success that now puts his unique talents in demand, especially in the horror genre. There is no better show to put his newly-acquired genre cred to use than on Fear the Walking Dead, with the only exception being The Walking Dead, of course.

There is no doubt that his appearance on the show alongside series stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam-Carey will bring the storylines full circle with a possible love interest for Carey’s character.

Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on April 10 to kick off the summer season.
